Harvested throughout the chill of night and early morning, Vermentino is picked later in the growing season to allow grapes to ripen fully and achieve optimal flavour profile. The gently crushed first run juices are cold settled to oak barrel for fermentation to completely dry, followe by eight months maturation on sedimentery yeast lees. Floral and lemon myrtle nose with subtle notes of spice and garden herbs. A soft, creamy, medium bodied style of fresh citrus and tropical fruits characters, delicately spiced, a great balance to the long and refreshing finish.

The Canberra district is perfectly suited to growing this noble grape, as the mesoclimes, so similar to those of Bordeaux, are influenced by trade winds during summer which carry a whiff of sea salt and stimulate the vines. Ken Helm and daughter Stephanie are a father and daughter team, the fourth and fifth generation descendants of migrants from the Rhineland who established vineyards near Albury and Rutherglen in the 1860s. Papa Helm has been involved in the development of the National Wine Show, Cool Climate Wine Show, Wine Press Club of Canberra and numerous promotional events for the Canberra region. Helm craft their Cabernet Sauvignon in the statuesque style of the great Medoc growths. The finished wine is released after two years maturation in a selection of seasoned and new oak casks.

Deep garnet red colour. Bramble bouquet with hints of loganberry, violets and licorice over lightly smoked oak. A finely balanced and elegant wine with the richness of berry fruits and butterscotch flavours deriving from two years maturation in oak casks. Fine tannins provide another dimension to the wine. A long, dark fruited finish with lingering notes of savouryness, cassis and dusty Medoc oak.

A single vineyard, strongly terroir wine by maestro Ken Helm AM, from fruit picked off neighbour Al Lustenberger's property, only released under the premium black label if it reaches the highest quality benchmarks. Since 2005 the collaboration of Lustenberger and Helm has claimed more than fourteen trophies. Ken Helm knows from great Riesling wines, he remains custodian of a heritage that's been handed down for generations, brought to the new world in the 1860s, by German growers who emigrated from the Rhineland to establish vineyards in Australia.

He is a direct descendant of Rhine Valley vignerons and arguably understands Riesling better than anyone else in Australia. The Lustenberger vineyard sits at 650 metres, it faces north with an east to west row orientation, vertical shoot canopy managed, it's designed for maximum protection of fruit against sunburn, a main cause of inferior quality harvests and fruit taint. The soil consists of conglomerate volcanic ironstone and sandstone with a reasonable depth of friable over clay soils. Only those parcels of fruit which can display the essential qualities required of a national flagship Riesling wine are considered for inclusion into Black Label Helm.

Pale light straw colour. Fresh lifted floral nose showcasing topical lime and lemon citrus characters, mineral and spice. A soft acid palate displaying ferric notes, drying crystaline nature and slate, indicative of the iron soils content. Persistence of fruit with an elegant structure, offering all the classic varietal flavours of the finest slow ripened, cool climate Rieslings.

Fully Organic Certified grown and made, Huia are focused on hand crafting unique wines which express the effusiveness of Marlborough fruit. The range of sites available to Huia provides some exciting opportunities for vinification through traditional as well as more modern techniques to increase the depth of flavour. Fermented to a dry, adults only styling, elderflower notes, red bell pepper and nettles lift the nose; the palate is exquisitely balanced and refined, the excellence of terroir imparts a structure of rich minerality.

Sauvignon Blanc from this vineyard displays ripe tropical flavours. The Winsome vineyard is clay based mixed with black sand. The nights are colder but the days are hotter, achieving more herbaceousness, red bell pepper and mineral flavours to the grapes. Sauvignon Blanc is harvested in the cold early hours of morning, vineyards are separately pressed. A portion is vinified through the action of wild indigenous yeasts in neutral to new French oak barrels, infusing the wine with richness and complexity.

Pale straw in colour. A good aromatic intensity with bright herbaceous and floral notes, gooseberries and lime. Layered with flavours ranging from guava, melon, gooseberry and lime zest. This uplifting wine displays excellent length and depth on the palate. Match with mussels, snap fried fishes or scallops in wine.

Classically structured with a well established estate styling, Hunter's have won more than 100 gold at international wine competitions, including Marquis de Goulaine Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Jane Hunter is a highly qualified viticulturist with a long family history of wine growing, she worked closely with eminent Australian oenologist Dr Tony Jordan to achieve the quality of harvests which are benchmarks in the world of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Hunter's try to preserve all the freshness, finding it essential to study all the vines very carefully before making that major decision on which day to pick, always in the the cool of morning. Fruit is processed to anaerobic techniques, destemmed, crushed and lightly pressed. Fruit is handled with the greatest of care to retain essential character, palate and bouquet. The juice is clarified by cold settling, after which it is racked and cool tank fermented over a course of twenty eight days, each vineyard parcel handled individually. Components are assembled into a suitably complex style of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Light straw colour. A mixture of passionfruit, crisp apple and citrus fruit aromas. The refreshing multi layered palate exhibits a blend of ripe tropical fruit, sweet herbs and citrus characters. These flavours leave a lingering finish on the palate making it a highly satisfying all rounder.

Adam Jackson bought the first blocks of land at the heart of Marlborough and took up farming in 1855. His wife planted a gumtree along Jacksons Road, it remains a regional icon and can be seen on the Jackson estate label. It was up to the fifth generation of Jacksons to take an interest in viticulture and establish vines. John Stitchbury released his first vintage in 1991, his love of agriculture and passion for making good wine, earning Jackson Estate the Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the prestigious London International in 1993.

Sauvignon Blanc is harvested off three estate vineyards in the central Wairau plain and Waihopai sub regions, throughout the early hours of morning, to avoid the heat of sun and preserve freshness. Parcels are individually pressed and cold settled for three days before racking the clear juices into fermenters for warming and inoculation to neutral yeast strains which can enhance and complement the purity of Marlborough fruit. Three weeks vinification at low temperatures are followed by four months on light lees prior to assembling into the finished wine. Alcohol 13.0%

Light pale straw hue. Distinctly aromatic nose offering lifted notes of citrus and elderflower, gooseberries and white currant. These bright characters follow through to the palate, crisp white stone fruit flavours and an underlying lees driven textural backbone, supported by fine mineral concentration. Fresh acidity gives the wine lift, balance and a palate cleansing finish.
