Gosset Brut Excellence Champagne N.V
Champagne Ay
Gosset is an old Champagne house making wines in ultra-traditional style, but sell for a great deal less. This base-line non-vintage has a fine, foaming texture and a complex, powerful nose of candied fruits, nutty and bready touches. It's mouth-filling, dry and firm to taste, with a long, savoury finish. Indulge yourself.

Founded in 1584, Gosset is one of the smallest producers of luxury Champagne, but what it lacks in volume it amply makes up for in quality and prestige. Gosset only uses juice from the first and best pressing of grapes, and unlike most other producers, initial fermentation is still carried out in small oak barrels. Riddling and disgorgement are performed by hand. Significantly, and in contrast to virtually all other houses, Gosset Champagnes do not undergo a malolactic fermentation, resulting in a heightened acidity, slower maturing wines and that inimitable Gosset style – powerful and full-bodied, of unrivaled richness and staying power – in other words, some of the world's most legendary Champagne.

Pale golden yellow almost buttery in the glass with a fine cordon, exemplary mousse of gentle light bubbles. Intense and complex bouquet showing warm baked brioche, buttery yeast characters, supple nut and oak and divine layers of further varietal fruit complexity. Aromatic notes with floral fruits of jomquil and linden flower, black cherry and roasted coffee smells. Plalate is rich, vinous and concentrated, there are dried figs, cherry, then grilled almond and biscotte. Long and powerful length in mouth, a tranquil yet broadly palated wine to enjoy with fine faire like delicate rabbit, casseroled veal and wet sweet cheese.
