In 1885 at the age of eighteen, John Francis Brown planted Shiraz grapes on his Milawa property, located in the lower reaches of King Valley. Several generations of winemaking expertise have since accumulated and are brought to bear on this most illustrious edition within the Brown Brothers portfolio. Grapes are destemmed and crushed to fermenters with the use of some juice run off to concentrate fruit flavours and intensity. Select small batches are cared for at the Brown Brothers Kindergarten Winery before assembling into an intense and concentrated wine. Patricia was matured eighteen months in a selection of mostly new French oak barriques before bottling and a further spell of cellar ageing. Alcohol 14.0%

Deep crimson colour. Complex aromas of red berries and blackcurrant, while the influence of French contributes a gentle cedar lift. The palate is rich and concentrated with sweet fruit and hints of nutmeg. Exhibits great length and is well structured with ripe flavours and seamless elegant finish. Patricia has evolved beautifully after several years ageing under the Brown Brothers cellars, softening the palate and integrating tannins.

Mornington
Available by the case dozen only
As a key figure in the establishment of Mornington viticulture, Garry Crittenden was instrumental in forging for the Peninsula the reputation as a distinguished producer of distinctive, regional wines. From the outset, Crittenden recognized the area's climatic suitability to Pinot Noir, exploiting it through meticulous land management and sophisticated vinification techniques. Fashioned from a mix of Pinot Noir clones, including 114 and 115, MV6, D2V5 and D5V12, all grapes are hand picked off the Crittenden property at 25 Harrisons Rd Dromana.

Grapes are immediately destemmed to small open fermenters without crushing. Juices and musts, pulp, skins and seeds are sent to fermenters via a heat exchanger, the temperature is lowered from ambient to approximately 7°C. A protective CO2 cover is maintained and the must is cold soaked for four or five days prior to vinification. Half the fermenters are allowed a spontaneous wild yeast ferment, the balance is inoculated with a choice red wine yeast. Ferments are allowed to peak at 32°C, the wine is pressed off skins at dryness into a mixture of new and prior use French 225 litre oak barriques. Malolactic commences naturally and is complete by mid winter.

Bright scarlet hue. Crittenden walks the middle ground between being fruit driven and and supply elegant, yet complex and soundly structured. Each clone contributes unique characters. There is a faint but appealing stalky character which has nothing to do with stems in the ferment, speaking more about the smaller size of hand picked berries. The texture is rich and structured, soft tannins and bright cherry fruit resolve on a good acid finish.

On a beautiful and historic farming property at the gateway to Mornington's vine draped hills, the Foxeys Hangout team focus on the peninsula's renowned affinity for Burgundian varietal grapes and wine styles. They can count on their closeness with the region's best growers to collate harvests of Mornington's finest Pinot Noir. Vinification is all small batch and a combination of techniques borrowed from the old world are employed alongside more modern practices acquired at Roseworthy and Charles Sturt. Grapes are destemmed and placed in open vats to ferment naturally on native yeasts. Red Fox sees ageing in older oak, it relies on lovely fruit aromas and natural grape flavours for structure and length.

Very bright scarlet. A stunning nose of aromatic cherry complexities, violets and forest floor, raspberries and plum with a spicy lift. Full flavoured and full bodied with superb grape tannins in support of blackberry fruit and rounded, earthy characters. Showing outstanding delivery of fruit and amazing structure, Foxeys Hangout proudly outclasses many Pinot Noir at far higher pricepoints. A solid, savoury wine which calls for rich, savoury dishes to make the most of it's generous palate and splendid structure, match it with calves liver and caramelised onions, pasta with ragout or succulent garlic/ rosemary lamb. So this is why Mornington Peninsula is renowned for Pinot Noir.

Bright scarlet colour. Characters of light floral with cherry, red fruits, currant and supple oak. Essentially made in the same way as the estate Pinot Noir, there are two significant differences. The clonal composition is smaller, just MV6 and D2V5, delivering a less complex wine, and no new wood for the maturation process. Geppetto is aged in seasoned oak, the style is intentionally made for early enjoyment, showing fresh fruit and low tannins but still retaining a lively acidity. Best enjoyed with your favourite lamb or duck.

Vines are cane pruned and shoot thinning is performed as early as possible in September to ensure a low number of shoots per vine to create an open canopy. This provides good air circulation and even ripening. Summer pruning on the northern side promotes a relatively early harvest. Hand picked fruit is whole bunch pressed and cold settled before being run to barrel and tank for fermentation at low temperatures to preserve vital fruit characters. The French oak barrel fermented component is lees stirred over the course of three months to promote oak integration and textural complexity. Parcels are assembled to a style which can best achieve great elegance, depth and character.

A brilliant medium straw colour. Bouquet of citrus, stonefruit and developed lees richness. Oyster shell complexity with hints of caramel, barrel ferments and vanilla. A wonderful mineral texture on the taut, fruit filled palate, offering great length while exhibiting drying grapefruit characters, peaches and nectarine, smooth complex texture and effortless balance.

This ensured the attainment of maximum ripeness and varietal characters whilst reducing the likelihood of the stronger nose and palate that can be typical of the Chardonnay. Winemaking family has ensured painstaking pruning of the vinayard, and all the vines contributing to the Karina Chardonnay were hand-picked. Alcohol: 13.
