Knappstein Watervale Ackland Riesling
Clare Valley
Available in cartons of six
A pure caricature of Watervale, a highly eloquent expression of Riesling, as influenced by the very special terroir and clime from which it is derived. Planted in 1969, the Knappstein Ackland River site is a dry grown property of classic red loam over limestone soils, perfect for yielding vintages of outstanding Riesling fruit. The delicate floral nuances and calico textures are unique to the handful of precious sites within this exclusive Watervale precinct.

Slate and shaley rocks which lie abundant around the Ackland vineyard play a crucial role in the aromatic development of the Riesling. Planted to cool altitudes of 420-450 metres overlooking nearby Watervale township, Ackland's east northeast facing aspect protects the vines from the prevailing winds off the Great Southern Ocean. Whilst capturing the full morning sun to develop strong lime and citrus flavours, the high natural acids are greatly enhanced by the cold night temperatures. All the fruit is selectively hand picked, gently crushed with only the best free run juice used. Musts are cold settled and fermented with neutral yeasts at cool temperatures to dryness, cold settled once again for clarification prior to filtration.

Light yellow colour. Ackland shows lifted lemons and limes with delicate floral aromas. The palate is rich with lemon lime and has wonderful persistent acid to complement the fruit sweetness. Knappstein displays the Watervale generosity of intense citrus fruits, exciting and immensely pleasureable, the persistence is balanced by a refreshing mineral acidity. It finishes long and lingering.

Konrad Marlborough Riesling Bunch Selection
Marlborough
Available by the dozen
Quality is the absolute focus of Konrad, it starts in the vineyard and continues throughout the vinification. Konrad believes that the best fertilizer is the foot of the farmer. Fruit is harvested from vineyards in the Waihopai and Wairau Valleys, where vines are planted to stoney silt soils with free draining loam topsoil. Formulated to a style which demands the most meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard, only the ripest bunches are hand selected, gently whole bunch pressed and stop fermented at the precise moment when the natural sweetness balances the penetrating acidity.

The way to make great Marlborough Riesling is simple and straighforward. Leaf pruning of the vines is essential in achieving maximum quality of fruit. Moderate yields, moderate leaf plucking and harvesting at moderate brix levels all combine to produce an amazing Riesling wine. Grapes are harvested and gently pressed, the excusively free run juices are inoculated through a choice aromatic strain of yeast to enhance natural fruit flavours. Pressings are discarded and ferments are maintained at low temperatures to retain the vivid and intense citrus characters of Marlborough Riesling. Upon completion the wine is allowed to sit on lees for a several months before being gently filtered and bottled.

Brilliant straw colour with pale hue. Lively nose, florals and ripe fruit hinting of peaches and pear, lemons, lime and mandrarin peel aromas leap out of the glass. An off dry palate exhibiting impressive concentration and length, nicely balanced by firm citrus acidity. Tantalizing suggestion of mineral and satisfying textures, balance and weight over crisp acid backbone.
Leasingham Bin 7 Riesling
Clare Valley
Available by the dozen
Leasingham have been an integral part of Clare Valley viticulture for over a hundred years, a tradition that's been evolving since 1893. Rich soils and cool, moist conditions were perfect foundations for what is today Australia's premier Riesling appellation. Despite advice to the contrary, Leasingham planted Riesling extensively in the early 1940s. This vision led to Leasingham establishing a reputation for the finest Rieslings. Today the tradition lives on, the Leasingham name is forever linked to the exuberant styling which is recognizably Clare Valley Riesling.

Leasingham's 260+ hectares of vineyard located to the north and south of Clare township, yield some of the country's finest fruit. Bin 7 is vinified from parcels of Riesling grown to distinctly different sites, including distinguished vineyards around Watervale and Neagles Rock. Two neighbouring vineyards are located in the eponymous town of Watervale, famous for fine Riesling, others are located at the eastern ridge of Clare. These parcels have historically been the foundation of the Bin 7 style, selected for their fineness, generosity of flavour and vibrant mineral backbone. The small, individual parcels of Riesling grapes are gently air bag pressed to allow the best possible free run extraction.

Pale straw with green hues. Bin 7 displays aromatic lemon citrus spice on the bouquet. Juicy and salivating, the palate exhibits all the hallmarks of Clare, citrus spice, lemon sorbet, with fresh pineapple and mineral stone. Bin 7 is full of flavour, the acid is fresh and lively with generous persistence. Enjoy with freshly shucked oysters or whole baked fish.
