Vinified from the Barossa's traditional Port varietals, mostly Grenache, the balance Mourveprdre and Shiraz, assembled to an average age of ten years. Grant Burge craft their exquisite Old Tawny to the Iberian Solera system, achieving a higher standard of fortified wine year after year. The spicy fruit flavours are delivered by the high proportion Grenache and add a lifted freshness to the more complex rancio characters in the background. The palate is smooth and rich, its moreish opulence is balanced by an elegant, drying finish.

Parcels of Grenache, Mourverdre and Shiraz are crushed into traditional open fermenters, arrested at the desired sweetness by the addition of brandy spirit. After pressing and clarification, components are matured in a selection of older oak barriques and hogsheads, slowly achieving superb harmony and complexity without adding any obvious oak character. A solera system of rack offs and top ups is employed to construct a palate of consistency and to improve the quality of fortifieds into perpetuity. A limited quantity of Aged Tawny is drawn for bottling each year, as barrels are topped up with stocks from younger vintages.

Golden tawny colour. Complex rancio notes show through on the bouquet, espresso and carob, spiced navy rum and treacle, together with some fresh fruit characters and spirit warmth. The palate is sweet and mellow, a harmonious balance of developed fruit characters and oak tannins, ample fruit flavours and evolved tawny richness, finishes satisfyingly dry.

JMK is a luscious fortified Shiraz, from fruit grown to select rows of the Kalleske vineyard, including the renowned Greenock block, vinified and vintaged on the family farm. JMK Port is dedicated to fifth generation grower, John Malcolm Kalleske, who has tended the Kalleske family vineyards for more than fifty years and continues to husband the very vines which are earmarked for JMK. A commemorative Vintage Port to honour the dedication showed by John and all those who came before him, toward their treasured old vines.

Grapes are vinified in open top fermenters and treated to a regimen of pumpovers twice daily. Several days after harvest, a portion of the free run juices are drained and fortified to arrest ferments and retain some natural sweetness. A combination of estate made brandy spirits, up to twenty years of age, are called upon to fortify the wine, achieving added complexity. Components are matured in well seasoned oak hogsheads for eighteen months, whereupon only the very best barrels are selected to be included in the final assemblage and bottling of this extra fine liqueur Shiraz.

Deep purple black colour. Enticing aromas of xmas cake and dark spiced berries, chocolates, perfume, marzipan and plum. These superb pure fruit flavours continue on the palate, luscious and rich, full bodied and intense. Essences of rancio and sweet tobacco leaf, marmalade and dried apricot, harmonious with moderate sweetness, balanced alcohol and velvety mouthfeel, a lingering finish completes a remarkable wine.

McWilliam's can trump the market when it comes to offering quality Ports which are complex and mature, a deeply satisfying experience in Fine Old Tawny. Crafted from parcels of Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz, blended to an average age of five years. Harvest is generally later in the season, off choice vineyards in sunny Riverina, the added term on vine serving to fully ripen grapes and encourage luscious fruit sweetness. A lighter, fresher style of Tawny than McWilliam's Hanwood Ten Year Old, offering exquisite richness and complexity without overt oak.

Fruit is harvested at above 14 baume, crushed into open fermenters, partially fermented on skins for between seven and ten days to extract maximum colour and flavour. Ferments are arrested at the desired sweetness by the gradual addition of a high quality neutral spirit, which is also distilled at McWilliam wineworks. This gradual fortification of around two per cent alcohol helps control the vinification, achieving a seamless fortification. Following the wine's clarification and filtration, batches are matured in small, old oak barrels for an average of five years. The final blend is then cold stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.

Brick red colour with amber hues. Rich rancio nose, walnuts and sweet tobacco, a concentration of fruit fragrances, cocoa and treacle notes. A lively fruit acidity wraps itself around the fine fruit richness, the palate is sweet to start, evolving into a beautifully drying, clean and persistent spirit finish. Australian Tawny is renowned throughout the world of wine for its engaging richness and remarkable complexity. Assembled from the last remaining barrels of old fortified Grenache, Touriga and Shiraz, McWilliams Show Reserve represents an indulgence in slow aged rancio flavours, raisins, dark chocolate and evocatively perfumed festive cakes. Twenty five years maturation means that the angels are constantly taking their share, as the extravagantly aged barrels are topped up every year by even more stocks of the most luscious Tawny wine.

Grapes are crushed and destemmed, pumped into open fermenters and vinified on skins for optimal extraction of colour and tannins. A neutral grape Brandy spirit is added to arrest ferments and retain a measure of palate sweetness. Batches are drained and pressed, settled, racked off solids and stabilised before filtering into French oak. As older wines are summoned, new wines are filled for ageing up to thirty years. Upon completion, individual barrels are assessed for inclusion, assembled with the best of the best, to create a fine Old Tawny that's second to none. Alcohol 18.5%

Deep brown amber, khaki hues. Lifted intense rancio and walnut spice, pistachio and vanilla oak characters exhibiting the excellence of a decades barrel aged Tawny. Extremely rich and full palate, viscous, raisins, dark chocolate and festive pudding, round and luscious, long fine tannins balanced by the ambrosial sweetness, resolving on a dry, savoury finish.

Fortified from the classic Australian Tawny varietals, predominately Shiraz and Grenache, Morris of Rutherglen's historical, quarantined old vines yield some of the nation's most precious parcels of fruit. A profound, multi layered structure of mature fruit flavours, with aged oak/rancio expressions and almond creamyness, balanced by a deep spirit dryness, continuing on a long and persistent, flavoursome and textural finish. The classic, rich and full Australian style, offering tremendous length, ribald complexity and satiating palate warmth.

Shiraz and Grenache grapes are encouraged to ripen fully before harvesting. Following the crush, a partial fermentation is initiated before pressing. A specially selected low strength spirit (alcohol with character) is added to arrest fermentations and fortify the young wine, followed by transfer into a selection of old, seasoned oak barrels and casks for several years to develop the inimitable aged rancio tawny characters. Only the best casks, some as old as forty to fifty years of age will find their way into Old Premium.

Every now and then, Peter Lehmann releases a rare jewel from deep within the cellar. The King is a superb fortified wine of great distinction which has laid undisturbed in the bottle for many years under the Peter Lehmann Tanunda Cellars. Twelve years old upon release, The King is showing the benefits of extended bottle age. A rich and mature cepage of Shiraz with Touriga Nacional, grown to good Barossa vineyards, the King must be decanted carefully, as a vintage Port of this distinction will show some sediment and crust. A treasure of a wine.

A beautifully made wine which has developed a deep velvet appearance and luscious characters with a lift of spirit on the nose. Shiraz and Touriga Nacional are vinified on skins for three to four days, a neutral brandy spirit is then added to arrest fermentations. Following a further ten days maceration on skins, batches are pressed, clarified and aged twelve months in a selection of older oak barrels. Components are racked and assembled, bottled and held under the Peter Lehmann Tanunda cellars for maturation until ready to release. The King is a vegan friendly wine. Alcohol 19.0%

Deep mahogany colour, brick robes. Deeply complex bouquet showing hints of liquorice and black cherries, almond and festive cake. The palate shows wonderful richness, full of nutty complexity and fine fruited, without being cloyingly sweet. Whilst richly mouthfilling, The King shows a taut structure and finishes remarkably velvety, spicy and dry, as do all the great Ports of the world, an intensely regal wine.
