Opaquely dark purple red. Black cherry, boysenberries and cassis, varietal leaf, briar and olive notes. Immense concentration on the well proportioned, linear palate, black currants, loganberries and savoury reductions, supported by august tannins and a framework of flattering, amiable oak, its muscular profile lingers long on a finish of sour plum piquancy and dulcet, perfumed dark berry fruits.

Established 1969 to a propitious eastern facing slope at 260 metres above the sea, Halls Gap is all about the monumental nature of Grampians Shiraz. Treated to a traditional course of open vat ferments, hand plungings and extended term of eighteen months maturation, Fallen Giants articulates the imposing structure and fruit saturation which defines Grampians Shiraz, opaque, succulent and piquantly spiced.

Deep, dark garnet red. Plum and blackberry liquered nose, maraschinos, graphite and freshly fragrant licorice spice. Blueberries, black brambleberries, currants and peppered spice on a length of fine and firm, yet refined, malleable tannins. A western districts Shiraz of opulence, generosity and palate richness to accompany the bravest fare, full flavoured meats and root vegetable dressed in a powerful red wine glace de viande.

Dominated by Grenache, with slightly lesser components of Syrah and Mouvedre, off vines planted to alluvial alpine deposits and rolled pebbles over a former sea bed of the miocene epoch. An assemblage of estate grown fruit, with parcels from a seven hectare property to the west of Chateau Beaucastel and salubrious sites near the center of the village at Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Batches are vinfied according to the exacting Beaucastel technique of destemming and warming the fruit before treating the musts to a traditional south Rhone style of ferment.

$9199each $1103DOZEN EACH DOZEN The priority at Perrin et Fils is all about the vine's relationship to the earth, the local fauna and the climes by which it is influenced. The estate vineyards are nourished by a compost of sheep's manure and the previous year's pressings which maintain humus content and microbiological equilibrium. Harvest is all done by hand, only the best grapes are sorted and vinified. Varietals are handled separately, the aim being to preserve the individual qualities of fruit and terroir. Components are transferred to large barrels where a racking disturbs it's repose from time to time. Matured in seasoned French oak casks for a year, the wine prepares itself, evolving and maturing until time for assemblage, a light fining and filtration.

Deep ruby colour with violet hues. The nose is very intense on ripe fruits, toast and vanilla from elegant ageing. Characters of lavender and mint leaf are present, within a deeply cherried and cassis palate, evoking impressions of earth, peppercorn and herbs. The mouthfeel is supple and round exhibiting fine structure and stately tannins. A beautiful Chateauneuf Du Pape, striking the balance between maturity of vine and freshness of fruit.

The essential Cotes du Rhone cepage, crafted almost exclusively from the Grenache of Grand Prebois and Syrah of Vinsobres. The inclusion of Mourverdre completes the holy trinty while contributing savouryness and pastoral charm. Filled with the fragrant fruit of Vallee Rhone and Mistral spice of Provence, Perrin Reserve makes a match with continental style grills and crumbed veal, slow braised joints and ham.

$2799each $335DOZEN EACH DOZEN Perrin Pere & Fils have been drawning fruit from the finest vineyards along Cotes du Rhone since 1909. To this day they retain the choicest parcels to vinify into exemplary regional wines. Parcels of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah are sourced from Perrin estate properties at Grand Prebois and Vinsobres, as well as fine vineyards leased under long term contract. Within and around Grand Prebois, the soils are limestone gravel clays. Vinsobres is rich in quartz and limestone marls. Following the harvest, bunches are destemmed, followed by temperature controlled vinification. Batches are treated to a year's maturation in a combination of unwooded vats and seasoned oak Foudres before egg white fining and bottling.

The Abruzzo region is rather adjacent to Rome itself, on the other side of Italy's boot along the Adriatic coast. In the world of wine, it is best known for Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, a dry but rejuvenating style of table red with good fruit character and lovely soft tannins. Ottavio and Margherita Farnese built a palazzo here and established vineyards in the 16th century. The wines of Farnesse have been enjoyed by enthusiasts around the world ever since, they remain vitally fruit forward and velvety textured, just so remarkably easy to enjoy.

She had unwittingly acquired some of the finest viticulture in Italy and Farnese wine found its way to the tables of Europe's highest courts. The ancient vineyards are planted to breathtaking vistas and scenic hillsides on the Adriatic coast, within the communes of Ortona, San Salvo and Pollutri. The vines may have aged but the old world traditions and standards of excellence are maintained to this day. Harvests of Montepulciano grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, followed by a spell of maceration on skins, a fortnight's fermentation and term of maturation in seasoned French and American oak barrels.

A soft, satin smooth palate lined with gentle tannins, blackberry and cherry flavours, piquant wild berries, bay leaf and red apple.
