Established to deep red basalt soils by family Shelmerdine in 1985, Lusatia Park at Woori Yallock in the upper reaches of Yarra Valley, is a very demanding site. Vines are all closely planted and require a lot of work but the quality of harvest is spectacular, consistently yielding vintages of urbane, mineral infused Chardonnay. Fruit is all hand picked and whole bunch pressed, treated to full malolactic and battonage. Its voluble palate of oatmeal, almonds and brioche, is tightly structured, taintless and refined, defined by its crystal elegance and briny, lingering finish.

His straight forward, low intervention winemaking techniques translate into solid Chardonnay wines with bold varietal definition and intense fruit. The same careful approach is taken in the vineyard. Grapes are harvested in the cool of the night just as the tropical flavours begin to appear. A completely wild, indigenous yeast vinification serves to enhance the aromatics, ferments are run very cool to retain valuable volatiles. A component of large format oak ferments reduce acid harshness while contributing complexity. Five months of lees stirring compliments the mid palate texture and contributes a rich nutty taste.

Pale green hue. Pungent tropical and melon fruit laced with exotic dashes of kiwi and cashew. Stylish and elegant, the vibrant fruit drenches the tastebuds with a wave of intense pineapple, peaches and nectarine. Swan Valley based Sandalford have beeen making wine for over 150 years, changing their style and vinification throughout the passage of generations in many ways. During the 1970s, they developed a major new vineyard in Margaret River. Now one of the oldest, it is also one the largest, covering six hundred acres, the source of the most exceptional quality in mature vines Chardonnay. Oak barrel ferments, wild yeasts and time spent sur lies, a west coast Chardonnay of greater complexity for those who like a bigger, richer style.

$2499each $299DOZEN EACH DOZEN Chardonnay grapes are harvested from fully mature, dry grown Gingin clone vines. Fruit is crushed and treated to pressing. The exclusively free run juices are transferred to a selection of seasoned and new Burgundy coopered French oak barriques or chilled fermenters. All barrels are individually inoculated with a choice variety of yeast. Consider it as mach iii in the new Sandalford philosophy of Chardonnay making, whereby alcohol is capped, malolactic is forbidden and there's a close eye on oak, achieving a fresher, more modern and appealing style. Components are held on gross lees for eight months prior to assemblage, stabilisation and filtration.

Pale straw hue. Restrained notes of white stone fruit and hints of vanillin oak. A very clean, crisp Chardonnay, tightly wound, there is warmth from the alcohol, integrating beautifully with the stone fruit and barrel ferment characters of vanillin and freshly roasted nuts. Balancing acidity keeps the whole package in check with a clean and austere finish, ensuring freshness and vitality.

The D.O.C Orvieto was defined in 1971, it has since become one of the world's most popular Italian white wines and represents three quarters of the D.O.C. production in Umbria. The Orvieto Classico denomination is limited exclusively to the limestone cliffs on which the city of Orvieto is situated. The highly favourable terroirs and mesoclimes which distinguish Valley of the Paglia and the lower Tevere, are at the root of the natural endowments which have for centuries, yielded vintages of the freshest and most quenching white wines.

Summer rains maintain vegetative equilibrium throughout the hotter months leading to veraison and ripening. Fluctuations in temperatures between day and night allow grapes to ripen fully, achieving a harvest of healthy fruit in excellent condition. Grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, the must is cooled to 10C for a natural clarification, racked to fermenters and vinified at temperatures below 18C . The wine was then kept at a temperature of 10C until the moment of bottling. This procedure allows the preservation of vibrant, complex characters and overall freshness.

Straw yellow colour, hues of lime green. Bouquet opens with luscious fruity, floral aromas reminiscent of lemon zest, pineapple, banana and white flowers. Soft and well balanced on the palate, full bodied and luscious, soft and fresh, with lingering flavours of fresh citrus on the finish.
