$2749each $329DOZEN EACH DOZEN Pencarrow is the second label from Palliser Estate, gaining recognition for their impressive quality of fruit, distinctive expression of Martinborough and affable approachability. Pencarrow is crafted to traditional Burgundian techniques, harvests of several clone Pinot Noir, including 114 and 115, 667 and 777, Abel and 10/5, a portion as whole bunches, are treated to a cold soak before a wild indigenous yeast vinification for a fortnight on skins. A post ferment maceration for optimal extraction encourages the complex tannin structure and infuses further complexity. The finished wine is pressed into a selection of French oak barrels for a year's maturation.

Dark, deep, black hues. Tightly wound, intense and penetrating nose of ripe black fruits with dark herb and spice notes as well as violet florals. Medium full bodied, the flavours unfold and reveal black fruits and floral, concentrated and densely packed, supported by fine grained yet firm tannins. The oaking is sensitive and the youthful acidity carries the flavours to a long, lingering finish featuring spicy black fruits with hints of liquorice.

Harvests of Sauvignon Blanc grown to warmer Martinborough terroirs are generally more fruit forward, round and silkier than the racier South Island siblings. The unique maritime climes deliver harvests of exceptional quality fruit, low cropping levels translate into the essential ingredients of power and concentration, Martinborough is one of the few areas where this is naturally imposed by the weather. A backbone of estate grown Sauvignon Blanc is vinified in chilled fermenters alongside parcels from good local growers, followed by several months on sedimentery lees to build complexity.

Pale straw colour with youthful green hues. Full nose with voluminous aromas of pungent passionfruits, gooseberry and lime, lifted with some fermentation esters. Dry to taste, flavours of passionfruit, tropical fruits and English gooseberries, a little restrained and tight in expression. Bright and fresh, leading to a dry, minerally finish. $2899each $347DOZEN EACH DOZEN Te Kairanga were one of Martinborough’s founding wineries, a regional pioneer which sparked international interest for local Pinot Noir. There are six Te Kairanga vineyards, each with its own distinctive characteristics, suited to different varietal grapes, clones and viticultural management. The focus is always on maintaining a sustainable environment, employing holistic techniques to return the largesse of farming to the land, fauna and flora. Nine different clones Pinot Noir are all hand picked and separately handled, cold soaked and inoculated for a temperature controlled vinification. Upon completion, components are treated to ten months maturation in a selection of seasoned and new French oak barrels.

Light purple around a scarlet core. A fragrant bouquet of cherry, florals and spice, rhubarb, cocoa and thyme. A soft palate that's full of red fruit characters, currants and freshly grated beetroot, cranberries and spice. A short spell in mature French oak adds attractive smoky notes, making the New Zealander of choice to bring home for scallopini, salmon steaks or duck.

You can't get more New Zealand than the Te Kairanga vineyards, nestled at the bottom of North Island, within one of the nation's most exclusive winegrowing precincts, very near the artist's quarter of Martinborough. Each parcel of Sauvignon Blanc is set within it's own mini microclime. The Te Kairanga vines yield richly proportioned white grapes with distinct fruit characters, selectively picked to be woven into an intensely flavoured, full bodied Sauvignon Blanc that's perfect with or without food, very ready for enjoyment any time of day.

$2199each $263DOZEN EACH DOZEN Martinborough's first ever vines were planted on the Te Kairanga Draper vineyard, whence the fruit for this very wine originates. The vines here grow less vigorously in the cool, breezy conditions, so yields are lower and flavours are more intense. A rare confluence of geology and geography has formed the perfect aspects for aromatic whites. Grapes are harvested block by block and separately vinified to a regimen of punch downs and gentle pressing to ensure full extraction without sacrificing elegance. Much of the emphasis is on developing palate weight, a portion is barrel fermented to complement the wonderfully intense fruit, retaining primary flavours along with complexities derived from the vineyard.

Pale yellow hue. Exotic aromas of passionfruit, a broad spectrum of lime, green apples and melon, pineapple and gooseberry dominate the nose with just a hint of tropical intensity. The palate has low acid and a generous mouthfeel over a slightly creamy texture. An exuberance of citrus and tropical fruit dominates, showing excellent weight balanced perfectly by fresh acidity.

Te Mata are New Zealand's oldest winery, family owned and operated, they produce world class efforts, from fruit exclusively grown to estate vineyards in the Ngatarawa Triangle of Hawkes Bay. Originally planted in 1990, the Bullnose Vineyard's old red iron soils are Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand accredited, they yield precious harvests of Te Mata's finest Syrah.

$8199each $983DOZEN EACH DOZEN Bullnose Vineyard is named after the pre-1928 horseless carriage owned by proprietor Morris Cowley, nicknamed Bullnose due to its distinctive radiator. Always a single vineyard wine, over time its make up has evolved from the original single clone of Shiraz to an assemblage of several. All the parcels are hand picked, kept separate and handled in a traditional manner. Bunches are destemmed and crushed, treated to a warm, hand plunged vinification with a course of extended skin maceration before pressing and completion of secondary malolactic ferments. The individual wines are run to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for fifteen months maturation, egg white fining and assemblage.

Dark crimson colour. Complex aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, red plum, red roses and allspice. The palate is full and even with great balance and purity of varietal expression. Powdery tannins provide structure and a long, elegant finish. Te Mata will continue to evolve rich harmonies and complexity, a gourmande's accompaniement to eastern spiced lamb or rosemary venison bangers.
