From some of the oldest plantings in Marlborough. These well established vines, situated on free draining silty clay loams, are vinified alongside fruit from closely planted hillside vines with a clay loam influence. The majority of the crop is hand picked and loaded directly into presses. Juices are inoculated with pure and indigenous yeast strains, all batches are fermented in French oak barrels, a proportion of which were new, most of the wine completes malolactic. Components are assembled after eighteen months maturation, the assembled wine is treated to a further term on yeast lees, followed by a light fining for clarification before the final bottling.

Straw gold hues. Ripe citrus aromas, minerality, hints of roasted nuts and toast, savouryness from extended contact on yeast lees. Seamlessly integrated oak leads into a wonderfully balanced, richly full bodied palate of ripe citrus flavours, nuts and fig over a chalky textural yeast complexity, a stylish wine with balance and length. The textural palate resolves on a slaty, mineral edge.

Dog Point took the wine world by storm, purely on the basis of its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. Dog Point's older well established vines are planted to free draining silty clay loams, supported by harvests from closely planted hillside blocks. The philosophy at Dog Point is total involvement by the winemakers and partners within the vineyard, to make fully expressive wines. The standard of viticulture is a result of the considerable growing experience shared by the Sutherlands and Healys. One of the keys to the success of their label lies in the vineyard itself, fourteen full time workers attend to pampering the low cropped vines. Dog Point only release a few thousand cases a year, the estate is comprised of eighty hectares, a portion of which is retained by the eminent Cloudy Bay.

Straw green hue. Fresh, intensely concentrated aromas of tropical fruits infused with ripe citrus notes, complemented by lifted hints of lemongrass and passionfruit. Fine texture and acidity, a degree of minerality and a lasting, refreshingly crisp finish. Match with white meats, pale cheeses and seafood.
Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough Wairau
Available in cartons of six
The wines of Dog Point are a natural expression of the land whence they originate. Fruit is sourced off choice blocks dating back to the late 1970s. These older well established sites are a neighbour of the first commercial vineyard in Marlborough, established by Montana in 1973. Section 94 is a special bottling from a single superior block which produces a distinctly flavoured wine, attenuated to please those who would prefer not to drink a lychee flavoured, grass and gooseberry, Marlborough fruit bomb.

Section 94 is vinified from Sauvignon Blanc grown to a specific area of the estate's vineyard. Section 94 dates back to an early survey of Marlborough, particularly the subdivision of the vast Hawkesbury Run, which at that time encompassed an area of 6878 acres, seven roods and five perches. Wine from this vineyard exhibits distinctive yellow fruit characters, completely oak fermented and treated to an extended term of lees contact, a wine of amazing textural richness and considerable length of flavour. Section 94 is Sauvignon Blanc with a difference, a luxurious eighteen months maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak barriques.

Straw green colour. Intense yellow fruits and aromatic nuances of white flowers are integrated by a degree of minerality against a background of lees complexity. Unique full bodied Sauvignon Blanc with considerable depth and complexity. The intense citrus and mineral flavours are complemented by a chalky textural lees influence resulting in a wine with concentration, focused structure and individuality.

The Domaine Chandon and Green Point operations are located amongst some of the most superlative Chardonnay vineyards in Yarra Valley. Vines were established to soils made rich after many decades of mixed farming. Fruit is sourced primarily from the cooler, elevated sites of Upper Yarra Valley. Vineyards in this region are renowned for producing Chardonnay with citrus flavours and high natural acidity at moderate sugar levels. Parcels of fruit from the lower reaches of the Valley floor contribute lovely soft stone fruit characters. Grapes are hand picked and vinified in French oak barrels, wild yeast ferments, lees stirring and ten months maturation build layers of texture and complexity.

Pale straw, green hues. The aroma expresses pristine varietal characters of white nectarine, ripe citrus and stone fruit as well as a subtle flavour profile of sweet, exotic spice. The palate is complex, structured and layered showing excellent balance between the expression of vibrant fruit and the secondary characters of roasted spice, soft cheese and toasty characters derived from fermentation, aging and lees stirring in French oak.
