West Cape Howe make wines that are very much in the spirit of West Australia's sensual new world style, crafted with minimal intervention, allowing the distinctive eloquence of regionality and fruit to speak for itself. Grapes are sourced from the elite Block 6 of the estate Langton Vineyard at Mount Barker, a region that's quickly gaining international renown for the quality of Riesling. A tightly wound wine, with juicy lime fruit characters over a sound, judiciously balanced, revitalizing chalky acid structure.

The West Cape Howe team all share great passion for the Great Southern style of wines, they dedicate many months leading up to vintage, visiting and monitoring vineyards, ensuring that only the finest parcels of fruit are considered. Grapes are harvested over the course of a fortnight, off the salubrious Block 6 through multiple picks, crushed and pressed into controlled fermenters during the cool of night, only the lowest extraction, low phenolic free runs are included. Juices are inoculated by neutral strains of yeast and vinified at cool temperatures to maximise aromaticness. Upon completion, the very best parcels are assembled into a profound expression of Mount Barker Riesling.
 
Light straw, green hue. Citrus and lime characters with a hint of sherbet to the bouquet. Zesty lime and citrus flavours on the palate, refreshed by well balanced natural acidity. A generously proportioned Riesling, crisp with an excellent length of fruit all the way to a clean finish. A match to fine charcouterie and the freshest fish.

Great wine can only be made from exceptional vineyards. West Cape Howe take a holistic approach to viticulture, soil health and environmental sustainability are essential but a close husbanding of vines is also a priority. The winemaking team dedicate many months leading up to vintage, ensuring that only the best parcels are considered. A vital backbone of Langton Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is harvested throughout the cool of night at optimal ripeness. Exclusively free run juices are inoculated for a fortnight of cool ferments, closely managed to capture intensity of aromas while preserving crisp varietal flavours. Components are assembled upon completion and bottled early to retain freshness.
 
Pale straw, green hues. Lifted nose of tropical notes, gooseberries and herbaceousness. Zesty palate of fruity citrus and passionfruit flavours balanced by the greeness garden peas and fresh herb. Lingering refreshing acidity on the finish, a persistence of textural juicyness and great length of clean crisp flavour.

West Cape Howe own and operate vineyards throughout the expansive viticultural precincts of Australia's largest winegrowing region. It is here at Great Southern that the balmy West Australian growing season and salubrious mix of terroirs, form mesoclimes which are heaven sent for good wine, while permutating into a diversity which favour specific grapes and styles. From choice blocks on the Russell Road Vineyard at Frankland River, a golden buttery, oak fermented Chardonnay, engaging as aperitif and perfect match to fine gourmandise.

The selection of site and quality of harvest, are such that the West Cape Howe team need take very little intervention to make great wine. Grapes are picked at full physiological ripeness to create a generously proportioned Chardonnay for enthusiasts who indulge in the big flavourful styles. Parcels are pressed into a selection of new and aged French oak barrels for twelve days of vinification at cooler temperatures, preserving delicate flavours while infusing textural richness. Upon completion, batches are treated to a regimen of regular lees stirring during eight months of maturation, half the barrels complete a course of full malolactic, adding complexity and contributing splendid mouthfeel.
 
Deep straw colour with a pale green hue. Intense combination of cashews and butter, honeycombs and stone fruit. Medium weight palate, rich creamy texture, peach and nectarine fruit flavours, perfectly complimented by secondary characters of honey and toasted nuts, culminating on a persistent, flavoursome finish.

From vineyards 250 metres above the Southern Ocean, Chardonnay is harvested off the choicest estate grown blocks, picked to a schedule determined by perfect physiological ripeness. Grapes are crushed, the clean and turbid juices are racked into a selection of new and seasoned oak barrels for inoculation. Batches are monitored over the course of twelve day vinification at cooler temperatures, to preserve delicate fruit flavours. The finished wine remains in barrel for nine months on fermentation lees to develop a more textural mouthfeel. Individual barrels are all tasted and only those which can best articulate the essential Styx Chardonnay style are included into the final wine.
 
Mid to deep straw yellow hue with hints of olive. Nougat, white peaches and lemon zest bouquet over notes of well integrated oak. A medium weight palate showing beautiful grapefruit and citrus flavours supported by a mineral texture. Great persistence of flavour that's long and refreshing at the finish. Wonderful drinking right now alongside game fish or deep sea cod.

A collation of parcels grown to the balmy, maritime windswept vineyards at Albany, near Two Peoples Bay. Treated to the old world style of French oak barrel ferment and a course of maturation in the way of Loire Valley's Fume Blanc, a sensational, mouthfilling accord of Semillon and Sauvignon fruit, engagingly complex and wickedly balanced. Distinctive cut capsicum characters along with delicate citrus and floral notes, gently spiced, lemongrass and slate over a whisper thin wafer of milky, thistle, cypress oak.

Harvests of Sauvignon Blanc are collated from good vineyards throughout the finer winegrowing precincts of Marlborough. The fast draining, low fertility soils, warm days and chilly nights form a mesoclime that's unmatched anywhere else in the world for yielding lusciously fruit driven Sauvignon Blanc wines. Grapes are crushed and gently pressed before cold settling. The clear juices are racked off and inoculated to choice yeasts. A long cool vinification in controlled fermenters captures and retains the vibrancy of Marlborough fruit. Batches are treated to a term on lees before assembling into the finished wine, stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.
 
Light straw hue. Lifted nose of passionfruit and lychee flower, kiwis and kaffir lime. A lifted blackcurrant palate, complexed by notes of wet stone and thyme, elegant yet full with sufficient weight and texture to mate alongside white meat roasts, all balanced by flinty minerality. A splendid match to goat’s cheese flan and the freshest seafood.

After many years experience with Sauvignon Blanc, Knappstein made a move to the Adelaide Hills where he played a major role in pioneering it as a premiere cool climate region. Knappstein's efforts are set to further Wicks Estate's reputation as one of the icon producers of Sauvignon Blanc in the Adelaide Hills. A charmingly perfumed effort maintaining the punch and lifted varietal character of the finest Sauvignon Blanc.

Throughout the growing season, the team monitor grapes reaching full ripeness. Fruit is harvested in the cool early mornings to capture and retain all the characteristics of premium Sauvignon Blanc displaying a wonderful array of flavours, ranging from sweet tropical fruits through to the fine crisp expression of snow peas. Parcels are individually destemmed and crushed, chilled and treated to a gentle airbag pressing with the free run fractions kept separate to highlight the quality of fruit. All fermentations are run cool, with strict temperature control enabling the retention of freshness and vitality. After extensive trials, the final wine is assembled on the basis of flavour profile and outstanding varietal character.
 
Light citrus straw in colour. An enticing bouquet of lemongrass and tropical fruits backed by greener vegetable elements. A fine textural mouthfeel with crisp minerality, pure and refreshing. Aromas of tropical fruits and attractive varietal flavours are balanced by an elegant, lively palate finishing clean and crisp. Match with fresh king george whiting.
