Squealing Pig Vineyard is located in Marlborough's Awatere Valley. Known for its mineral and textural styles of wine, Awatere produces quite a distinct, savoury Sauvignon Blanc compared to the tropical, pungent and fruit forward efforts of greater Marlborough. A very attractive aperitif wine to enjoy on its own, Squealing Pig's subtle complexities make it a serious partner with good food.

$1699each $203DOZEN EACH DOZEN Squealing Pig are born and bred Awatere Valley, they understand the soils and aspects well and are on best terms with the finest growers. A collation of parcels from good vineyards which can yield harvests of Sauvignon Blanc displaying generous fruit flavours, splendid varietal definition and refreshing acidity are assembled into a single wine of exciting complexity and refined structure. Fruit is crushed and cold settled into temperature controlled fermenters, inoculated to wild and cultured yeasts before a cool vinification aimed at retaining all the brisk, vital expressions of the vineyard. Upon completion, the finished wine is promptly bottled with minimal handling to capture the essence of Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc.

Pale colour with a subtle lime green hue. Lifted and aromatic nose of tropical notes and kiwifruit, fresh Italian herbs and complex minerality. The palate is lively and long showing racy acidity, generous fruit flavours and mineral characters combine, creating a layered and complex Sauvignon Blanc. A delight to drink in its youth by itself or with meat salads and the freshest seafood.

$2699each $323DOZEN EACH DOZEN A pure Eden Valley Riesling, collated from vineyards planted to higher altitudes, where the chilly nights and mild sunny days are ideal for producing delicately complex Riesling wines with juicy citrus acidity. The rocky outcrops and generally shallow soils make grape growing a challenge, it demands diligence to achieve Riesling wines of stature. The St Hallett philosophy is tried and true, take minimum intervention but give maximum attention. Each vineyard is separately vinified for a month, ferments are kept cool to retain the delicate Riesling fruit characters. Upon completion, batches are fined and individual parcels are assessed, the best components are identified and assembled into the finished wine.

Light luminescent straw hue. A pretty nose with hints of rose petal and citrus blossom, the fresh lime notes expected of fine Eden Valley Riesling. A palate of remarkable elegance and harmony, aromatic citrus flavours are carried on a silky textural mouthfeel, lined with fruit sherbet flavours. The soft lime acidity is very approachable, even as a young wine, a Riesling of persistence and superb length.

One of the Yarra Valley's original vineyards dating back to 1862, St Huberts currently operates four blocks of distinguished Chardonnay vines. Planted on a gentle slope of well drained grey loamy soils, the fruit from these parcels provides the backbone to one of Victoria's most stately Chardonnay wines. The princely berries translate into a beautifully aromatic bouquet and rich palate, slightly citrus, set against a background of grapefruit, apple and melon flavours all bound together by suggestions of cool climate mineral and French vanilla oak.

$2799each $335DOZEN EACH DOZEN St Huberts Vineyard is gently sloping, thus maximizing drainage and preventing the vines from getting wet feet. Careful management using three trellis systems ensures that each block of vines fully ripens, but also adds complexity to the finished wine. Chardonnay is sourced from the St Hubert property and mature mature Yarra Valley vineyards. A high solids juice, extracted from the pressing of whole bunches and destemmed grapes, is fermented in a mix of new and seasoned French oak. Minimal handling ensures that the fresh varietal fruit and integrated oak characters remain in balance. Batches are treated to maturation on yeast lees, a small component completes malolactic to add texture and palate weight.

Light to medium straw, hues of green. Nutty barrel ferment aromas with lifted notes of peach and pear, given complexity by hints of citrus peel and toasty, nougat oak. Generous and rich on the palate, stonefruits, honeysuckle and spicy oak, even and restrained. The finish is tight, with lingering citrus and creme caramel notes.
