Nearby plantings of Norfolk Island pine (Araucaria heterophylla) which grow to over 200 feet provide an impressive, dominating influence over the surrounding landscape and the vines. Grapes are selectively harvested, full protective handling is employed to avoid any oxidation or browning. Juices are clarified, inoculated and vinified at lower temperatures. Soil is lean with ironstone, buckshot gravel and quartz, an interesting remnant from an ancient riverbed.
