Some Young Punks Naked On Roller Skates Shiraz
Clare Valley
Available by the dozen
The ethos is simple, to create charismatic wines that are true to what Some Young Punks think wine is about. Inspired by images as bright and as intense as the wines, Some Young Punks draw inspiration from low brow literature of the pulp fiction era. Each wine, each vintage and each label is a moment that will never come again, a winemaker should only ever promise to be consistently good, not just consistent. Each time Punks make a wine it may be the last, if it isn't worthy of being the last then it will not wear Roller Skates or be dressed in Some Young name.

Some Young Punks Squids Fist Sangiovese Shiraz
Clare Valley
Available by the dozen
Some Young Punks believe that awesome wine is a powerful aid to creativity. The truth is that the wines so far have almost made themselves. The best fruit always does. But even the best fruit won't jump into a crusher by itself, so Punks help out a little in that respect. This beautiful tradeoff leaves plenty of time to talk and drink and then talk some more. And when it's time, they'll bottle it. Presto. Oh Sqiuddy, you've got just gorgeous legs, are they truly all yours? She's all cherries and cedarwood, raspberries and wild game, rhubarb and forest floor, cherry stones and kirsch. Squeeze me.

Taylors Pioneer Shiraz
Clare
Available in cartons of three
Clare Valley Shiraz is internationally renowned, remarkable for its spectacular complexity, elegance and poise. Bill Taylor planted Shiraz with a view to formulating the very style which has won primacy throughout the world of wine. His nascent plantings continue to yield some of the most superlative Shiraz in all Valley Clare. A meticulous cull of the finest pickings are barrel fermented in new oak, followed by two years in the luxury of artisanally coopered barriques. Articulate of boysenberry, eucalypt and plum, its toothsome tapestry, undulating on a fugue of tea tree tannin and polished ebony oak.

Taylors St Andrews Cabernet Sauvignon
Clare Valley
Available in cases of 6
Next door to the Taylor estate was a sleepy winery originally founded in 1896, one of the first in the Valley, it had not been operational since 1934. In 1995 Taylor acquired the property and set about the task of recreating history with the re-issue of the timeless St. Andrew. Australia's most enduring flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, with a history of awards at prestigious international competitions including Concours de Mondial Bruxelles, St Andrew continues to attract international acclaim by virtue of its peerless quality of fruit and artisanal winemaking.

Against a backdrop of historic winery buildings and ancient vines, watered by a crystal clear spring fed stream called Honeysuckle Creek, the Taylor family handcraft one of Australia's most eminent Cabernet wines. Since 1892, St. Andrews Terra rossa soils have produced wines of rare excellence, the original winery still stands today. Grapes are harvested from Blocks A60, A70 and A10 of the St Andrews Vineyard, quickly and gently de-stemmed, keeping berries intact. Following a cold soak and fermentation, St Andrew is pressed to a high proportion of new prestige French oak barrels for completion of malolactic, rack and returned for eighteen months maturation.

Dark red with a faint brick red hue to the edge. Bold lifted varietal aromas of cassis, ripe black cherry and aniseed. These are matched with lashings of chocolate, cedar and cinnamon from the French oak maturation. A concentrated wine with a fleshy palate and vibrant fruit flavours of cassis and blackcurrant. Generous and beautifully ripened yet retains the poise and elegance of great Cabernet Sauvignon.
Taylors St Andrews Shiraz
Clare Valley
Available in cases of 6
St Andrew is the flagship of ultra premium editions by Taylor, a benchmark Clare Valley effort, vinified from Shiraz grown to a distinguished old site. It represents the very best from the Taylor family estate and continues the St Andrews legacy of transcendent, first growth Australian wine, a tradition which dates back to the inaugural vintage of 1892. A true labour of love, painstakingly hand crafted from grapes grown to a historic vineyard. A generously proportioned yet elegant wine, Clare Valley Shiraz at its stellar finest.

From the eminent St Andrews Block A30, Old Lands Block S50, 40 and 80, traditional 1654 clones of Shiraz. Grapes are moved a short distance to the winery where they are gently de-stemmed to retain integrity and minimise any maceration or extraction of harsh tannins. Fruit is transferred to headless barrels and inoculated with a specialist strain of Shiraz yeast. Ferments are hand plunged twice daily to aid gentle extraction before being pressed and returned to barrel for malolactic. Upon completion, the component wines are racked off lees, assembled and filled to a selection of water bent American oak barrels for eighteen months maturation prior to filtration.

Brick red colour with deep crimson heart, already showing signs of development. A brooding, savoury complex yet thoroughly enticing aroma. Mouth watering wafts of chocolate, mocha, toffee and cream intertwine with plum, aniseed and rich berry fruit, great elegance and length. The palate is a mouthful of round completeness. Fruit flavours and oak weight are in absolute balance bringing harmony, grace and a pleasurable warmth to the palate from start to finish.
Taylors Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon
Clare
Available in cartons of three
It was the great Cabernet wines of Bordeaux which inspired Bill Taylor to diversify from imports and retail into the highly fraught pursuit of grape growing. An ardent enthusiast of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Taylor had a keen enough palate and nose to determine that the most auspicious lands for Cabernet Sauvignon were amongst the idyllic rolling pastorals of Valley Clare. Selected on the basis of opulence and intensity, velvet tannins and heady perfumes, the most sensational pickings from the finest vintages are set aside for inclusion into the stately and magnificent, Visionary Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tim Adams Aberfeldy
Clare
Available in cases of 6
Excellent Langtons Classification. When the Birks of Wendouree settled Valley Clare in 1904, they planted their site to Shiraz. Many of these old vines remain productive and offer the backbone of fruit for the icon Tim Adams Aberfeldy. Younger rootings of the same clone yield grapes of the most intense colour, depth of flavour and refined tannins. The intense perfume and muscular nature of the finished wine reflects the character of site as much as the charm and personality of the animated and affable winemaker.

Sourced from the superlative Aberfeldy vineyard, owned by Jim McDowell and Anne Brown, a unique site of friable red loam over limestone, at the bottom of the eastern hills in Clare Valley, cropped to a mere 1½ tonnes per acre. Aberfeldy has long been synonymous with quality, the Tim Adams flagship wine. Year after year, Aberfeldy continues to deliver the finest construct of Clare Valley Shiraz. Parcels of fruit are fermented to dryness and kept on skins for a fortnight before pressing and returning. Components are treated to twenty four months in completely new French and American oak hogsheads under the Tim Adam cellars before assemblage, fining and filtration.

Vibrant magenta colour. Aromas of cherry and plum, dark berries and chocolate, complemented by oak derived cinnamon and clove, nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is full bodied with dark berry conserve flavours, balanced oak, tannin and acidity. Aberfeldy shows persistent sweet fruit and oak aftertaste, power and finesse.
Tim Adams Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec
Clare
Available in cartons of six
Cabernet Sauvignon has long been recognised as a stellar performer in the highly favourable climes of Valley Clare. A small addition of Malbec adds to the complexity, contributing violets, mulberry and richness, bringing the finished wine forward, making Tim Adams slightly more approachable in its youth. Twenty four months in French oak enhances the style, full bodied and unstabilized before bottling, a harmless crust may form with time.

The secret of Tim Adams success is as attributable to his selection of vineyards and growers as it is to his considerable flair for winemaking, and wealth of experience in the industry. Parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon with a component of Malbec from the Sheoaks (Grant Crawley & partners, Tim Adams and Pam Goldsack) and Fairfield property, all in Valley Clare. All components are fermented on skins for several days to dryness, followed by a return of pressings to the wines. Tim Adams reposes two years in a selection of new and second use French oak barriques under the state cellars before the final assemblage and a light fining.

Deep, dark garnet colour. A generous presentation of Clare Valley Cabernet, dominated by violet, fresh blackcurrant and oak aromas and flavours, a portion of Malbec dampens the tannins, contributing spice and achieving balance. A full bodied wine with concentration of fruit over generous chalky tannins, which has not been cold stabilised before bottling, a harmless crust may form over time. Tim Adams recommends decanting a few hours before service.
