Revived with the superlative 1990 vintage, Michael is only ever produced if the vintage has yielded fruit of peerless quality, the selection process includes only the top 1% of the most exclusive parcels of Coonawarra Shiraz. A decadent indulgment from an oustanding year, the finished Michael is matured fourteen months in a selection of seasoned and new French oak barrels.

A pure Shiraz wine drawn from vines planted to historical grounds at the heart of Coonawarra. The sites date back to John Riddoch's original development of the district as a sheep grazing and fruit growing colony. The precious fruit from Wynns V & A Lane blocks exhibit a signature density and richness, the defining characteristics of this location along the cigar shaped Terra Rossa strip. The exceptional quality of Shiraz derived from this superior terroir moved the Wynns winemaking team to isolate and vinify the parcels into a single bottling.

$6299each $755DOZEN EACH DOZEN Two limited edition wines have been made to highlight the fruit from the vineyards on V & A Lane, a long, straight road that dissects Coonawarra's famous Terra rossa strip at its midpoint. Originally surveyed in the late 1840s, the lane divides the original electorates of Victoria and Albert. Traditionally it has been used as a landmark to separate northern and southern vineyards, it is in itself, a prestigious, highly sought locality for growing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The vineyards along V & A Lane are amongst Wynns most prized viticultural assets. The finished wine is treated to seventeen months maturation in a combination of mostly new French and American oak barrels.

Deep crimson colour. An alluring perfume of black cherries and violet, plums and creamy French oak. Soft tannins coat the palate leaving a rich layering of supple blackberry and chocolate flavours in the mouth. Focussed fruit and savoury notes create a wine of great structure and texture, followed by a defined elegant finish. A superb articulation of Coonawarra Shiraz, a fitting tribute to the vineyards of V & A Lane.

Shiraz is a wine that Xanadu really does best. Their magnificent vineyards are situated within the most propitious mesoclimes, the growing conditions here are nothing short of an idyll. Xanadu's closely coddled vines love to yield harvests of the most succulent Shiraz, redolent of bright milled spice bouquets, supported by the firm palate structure that's essential of mighty Margaret River Shiraz. Exmoor may be a second tier label but nothing is done to a lesser measure at Xanadu. All vines are closely managed to yield fruit at full physiological maturity and complete tannin ripeness, for wines which are brimming with profound Margaret River regionality. A juicy Shiraz wine with the redolence of a fragrant Viognier perfume lift, judiciously aged in a high portion of French oak.

Many options exist for a natural vineyard management, at Xanadu the guiding principle is to leave the environment in a better state. Shiraz is harvested, a significant portion of the grapes are destemmed and crushed through open rollers to introduce whole berries into a combination of static and rotary fermenters for five to seven days at 26C. A component is co fermented with a portion of Viognier to add spice and floral lift. Batches complete their malolactic in a combination of barrel and tank followed by fourteen months maturation in a selection of seasoned and new predominantly French oak barriques.

Deep red with purple hues. Vibrant and fresh, ripe berry fruits and spice combine with lifted floral notes, dark, blackberry conserve over violets and spice framed by hints of fine French oak. Full bodied, offering juicy ripe fruits of the forest, dark cherries, redskins and spice. The generous fruit and fine tannins achieve a well structured, appealing wine with a lingering fruit to the finish. A lovely, vibrant and aromatic expression of Margaret River Shiraz.

Yabby Lake begin with a commitment to listen to the land. To grow only the right varieties, the right clones on the perfect sites, row by row, vine by vine. Hand picked grapes and a measure of whole bunches from a single estate vineyard at Teurong are sent to traditional open top fermenters for a fortnight of vinification. Batches are pressed into 500Litres French oak puncheons for malolactic and a year of age. A perfumed, spicy style, concentrated yet silky over a length of structured tannins, bright fruit characters throughout, wonderful elegance and depth of flavour.

Outstanding Langtons Classification. Octavius has established a reputation as one of Australia's Shiraz icons. In addition to being sourced from a number of very old Barossa vineyards, Octavius is treated to an extended period in American oak octaves of ninety litres capacity, the only red wine in the world to be matured in such small barrels. The secret of the wine not becoming overpowered by oak lies in the wood itself, which is open air seasoned at Yalumba's own cooperage for eight years before the octaves are coopered and put to use.

$13999each $1679DOZEN EACH DOZEN Grapes are all hand picked from heirloom vineyards, bush vines planted between late 19th and early 20th century, the oldest dates back to 1854. Fruit is crushed into eight or six tonnes fermenters, the wild yeasts present on grape skins initiate fermentation. Vinification and cap skin management in open and static potter fermenters is controlled by the Yalumba designed cap plunger. The result is a wine with excellent depth of colour, richness and complexity. Matured twenty months in a high proportion of new French, American and Hungarian oak hogsheads, octaves and barriques. Yalumba are one of the few wineries in the world who retain their own coopers practising the ancient craft of barrel making.

Deep bold red purple. Exotic fig and plum sauce, mocha and black liquorice notes on the bouquet. Dense and brooding, showing sweet Shiraz fruit concentration and fine seamless tannins. Long and lush through the finish, exhibiting great integration, elegance and style. Made to a holistic philosophy, fermented through the action of wild, indigenous yeasts and subject to minimal intervention, an organically grown and crafted wine is ironically an embrace of old fashioned methods. Vigilance and attention in the vineyard translates into a finished wine of excellent flavour profile and solid tannin structure. Exacting standards of viticulture are employed to ensure that grapes are in perfect condition when picked and arrive at the winery in the cleanest, healthiest state. The Hill-Smith family were at the very genesis of the Australian wine industry and made a major contribution to the development of Cabernet Shiraz as an internationally recognizable genre of wine. Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, migrant and brewer, he settled in the village of Angaston. Smith and Smith Jr planted their first vines by moonlight. Samuel liked the name Yalumba, an indigenous term referring to all the land around. The Signature has been relied upon by enthusiasts of the enduring claret style, ever since inaugural vintage of 1962.

The dedicated team are as passionate about the culture of wine, as they are to the preservation of environment and health of the land. Parcels of Cabernet and Shiraz are separately vinified in a mix of six tonnes static potter fermenters or eight tonnes open fermenters. The wild indigenous yeasts naturally present on grape skins initiate vinification. Cultured yeasts are added to complete the ferments. The wild ferments contribute complexity, creating richness and fine texture. Matured twenty two months in a selection of seasoned and new, French, American and Hungarian oak hogsheads and barriques.

Dark red with purple hues. Highly aromatic, fresh menthol and red currants, tobacco leaf and cedary spice, all supported by violet and cherry floral notes. Long and persistent, the Signature combines concentration with elegance while expressing great purity of Barossa fruit.
