John and Patricia Kennedy make a very special wine. Work in the vineyard is focused on unravelling intricacies within their site, identifying those areas which produce the best fruit. There is a perceptible learning curve from year to year, as the Kennedys continue to extract a finer quality of fruit with each vintage. The property was carefully chosen and the viticulture is tailored to growing grapes that are flavoursome, structured and balanced, to be crafted into wine by the eminent Sandro Mosele.

Clare Valley

Old Mr Killerman was a hermit who lived alone in the wild bushland behind Kilikanoon's cellar door. Trapping rabbits, growing fruits and vegetables, and as legend has it, making his own plonk in a galvanised iron leanto. He was known to winemaker Kevin Mitchell's father and planted some of the finest vineyards. Killerman's Run is built for earlier drinking and provides an entry point to the Kilikanoon range. Rich and powerful fruit with a persistence of palate weight, Killerman's Run offers outstanding value to those seeking a solid Aussie Shiraz.

There are no secrets to the success of Brothers in Arms. Vines were established in 1891 and have been husbanded by the same family of growers ever since. Their connection with the land is strong and whatever they do, they do it well from the start. The winemaking itself is never hurried, the focus is always on quality rather than quantity. Killibinbin is Langhorne Creek Shiraz with attitude, it's bold and has a strong sense of self. An intensity of black fruit flavours are entwined with toasty graphite oak, over a sound structure of fine tannins and velvety mouthfeel.

A pure, single estate Shiraz from five individual plantings grown to the distinguished Metala property at Langhorne Creek. The quality of wines produced here are very much the result of dedication and a close connection to the land which goes back five generations. The winemakers live within the vineyard itself, just two minutes down the road from the winery. The estate's patriarch Arthur Formby established vines at Metala in 1891, encouraged to do so by his brother in law Ronald Martin of Stonyfell, where the wines are still made to this day. Killibinbin is treated to an extended maturation of twenty four months in a selection of new and seasoned French and American oak barriques.

Kirrihill work closely with the best growers to ensure that fruit meets the standards required for the highest quality wines. The parcels are all picked and vinified separately in open top fermenters with regular pumpovers and drain and returns to maximise the extraction of colour, flavour and tannins from the skins. The active wines are pressed off for malolactic and a term of age in a mix of French and American oaks to enhance complexity and soften the tannins. Batches are then assembled to achieve a balance of flavour, regional character and sound structure. The objective being to create a wine which can best demonstrate the captivating charm of the finest Clare Valley Shiraz.

Deep red colour with purple hues. An enticing nose, black pepper notes and berry fruit fragrances are complemented by the lithe cedaryness of oak. The palate is chock full of sweet blackberry and plum fruit flavours, hints of chocolate and exotic spice are supported by a length of elegant tannins and framed by a supple scaffold of integrated oak.
