Clifford Bay is situated on the northern coast of South Island, at the southernmost reaches of Cook Strait, adjacent to the North Island's Wellington coast. To the north are the stunning White Cliffs and beyond that lies Cloudy Bay. Clifford Bay's wines are all about clear expression of varietal flavour and defined Marlborough regionality. Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys. All vineyards are managed to environmentally friendly systems and the Clifford Bay Winery is Sustainable Winegrowing of New Zealand certified.

Clifford Bay are focused on preserving varietal character and regional accuracy. Marlborough has a diverse landscape, marked by expansive flat valleys, streams, jagged hills and mountains. Warm days and cool nights ensure that Marlborough wines are full of vibrant fruit flavours, juicy acidity and heightened aromatics. Clifford Bay's winemaking regimens have evolved to capture, to emphasizeand express fully the inherent freshness, good balance and sound structure of the finest quality fruit. Following harvest, Sauvignon Blanc grapes are gently pressed, inoculated by choice yeasts and vinified in temperature controlled fermenters to preserve the freshness, bright aromatics, fine textures and exquisite balance.
 
A light straw hue. A nose of Marlborough freshness, citrus and lemongrass, tropical aromas of guava, melon and citrus. The palate is all about expressive fruit flavours, exhibiting fine citrus characters, lychees and lemongrass, pineapples and kiwi, followed by a crisp and dry, flinty mineral finish.

Situated amongst the scenic, cool ripening climes of Yarra Valley, the steep aspects and closely planted Coldstream Hills vines yield harvests of the finest Sauvignon Blanc. The wines here are quite literally hand made, not withstanding the skill of the winemakers, there has been no significant change in the art of vinification. The aim is to produce a definitive Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc, characterised by elegance and finesse, by silky supple texture, length of flavour and the ability to offer sophistication and complexity, within a forward drinking fruit driven style.

Forming an integral part of the Coldstream Hills varietal range, in some years, a percentage of Semillon is included to add texture. There is an emphasis here on clarity of varietal fruit and length of flavour. Sourced predominantly from hillside vineyards in the cool Upper Yarra, grapes are gently pressed, approximately a third of the juices are barrel fermented and matured in a selection of older French oak barriques and puncheons. The balance is treated to a course of vinification in controlled fermenters and stored on fine lees with occasional stirring. A small percentage of Semillon from the prestigious Rising Vineyard is included into the final wine to add complexity and texture. Alcohol 13.0%
 
Pale straw with light green hues. Clean and fresh nose with attractive notes of lemon rind, lychees and passionfruit. Underlying nougat barrel fermentation characters are present adding further complexity. An elegant style offering flavours of passionfruit, lychees and lemon citrus. Subtle oak underpins the wine's texture and length. The palate is finely balanced, finishing with chalky lemon acidity.

From the lower terrace of Te Muna Road Vineyard in Martinborough, grapes are picked off several parcels of vine grown to stony, limestone influenced soils adjacent Huangarua River. Intervention in the cellar is minimal out of respect for the true character of a special vineyard, whilst exposing the textural elements for a more evocative style of Sauvignon Blanc, achieving a wine with distinctive fine, soft, chalky texture and great elegance.

Craggy Range can focus on their own fastidiously hand managed viticultural regimens to produce parcels of the most unique Sauvignon Blanc from their Te Muna Road Vineyard at Martinborough. The second, lower terrace of the site comprises younger stony soils interlaced with lumps of limestone, providing an excellent environment for Sauvignon Blanc. All white wines from the vineyard show a distinctive fine soft chalky texture and great elegance. Mostly destemmed grapes and a parcel or two of whole bunches are vinified to a mix of wild and cultured yeasts in a combination of fermenters and cuves, followed by several months on gross lees in a selection of seasoned French oak barriques.
 
Pale straw colour streaked with vibrant green hues. Rich aromatics of fresh lime juice, elderflower, lemongrass and nectarine fruit combine with flint, jasmine and dried herbs for an intense and complex bouquet. The palate is intriguing, concentrated and dense, yet retains remarkable linearity and focus. sweet fruited core is framed by citrus like acidity and gains textural interest via a chalky finish.

Crowded House is all about taking a fresh new look at the established New Zealand style. Marlborough's vineyards yield wines with good length and a smorgasbord of fruit characters. The vines are picked batch by batch, to their own individual timetable. Early picking delivers fruit with higher acidity and wonderful citrus characters. Voluptuous, richly developed expressions are typical of riper, later picked grapes. Crowded House is well rehearsed at taking full advantage of the unique opportunitities presented each season. Parcels are individually vinified, inoculated with a variety of yeasts, held on sedimentery lees for two months to add richness and assembled unoaked into a vibrant, fruit forward styling.
 
Pale lemon straw colour. A bouquet of tropical ripe passionfruit, pineapple and mango with a hint of lemon. Showing loads of summery tropical flavours, the palate is soft and refreshing with an initial explosion of ripe tropical notes, followed by a hint of mineral flint and freshly cut grass. This approachable and balanced wine finishes with a lovely clean zestiness.

Dalrymple Sauvignon Blanc

Nestled within a cocoon of mixed vegetation and rolling hills, Dalrymple enjoys a unique and seductive aspect shared by only a few boutique vineyards littering Tasmania's Pipers River region. Discovered by Dr Bertel Sundstrup in 1987 after a long search for the perfect site, this small mature vineyard is now owned by the Hill Smith family and produces some of Australia's most distinctive cool climate, regional wines. Dalrymple is a textural Sauvignon Blanc, refined and exquisitely balanced, aromatic yet pleasingly dry, generous with ripe cumquat flavours.

The unique topography and lush vegetation around Dalrymple's vineyards mean that very few blocks require irrigation. The fruit is ripened on the vine until luscious characters of passionfruit and spice evolve. Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a number of Tasmanian vineyards, including Coal River valley, the White Hills region of Tamar Valley and Dalrymple's own Block K, all assembled with a view to retaining the different flavour spectrums of each parcel, to achieve a wine of great complexity. Each component is harvested and vinified separately with a variety of yeast strains and lees contact, aimed at contributing complexity and developing layers within the mouthfeel and palate.
 
Pale straw green in colour. Aromas of cut grass, crushed nettles and passionfruit skins mixed with wild notes from indigenous fermentation and extended lees stirring. The palate is as crisp and refreshing as a cold Tasmanian morning, with a fleshy texture and long lasting, mouth watering acidity that gives the wine incredible length. Perfect alongside seafood or shucked oysters.

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc

Dog Point took the wine world by storm, purely on the basis of its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc. One of the oldest vineyards in Marlborough, Dog Point sold grapes to other companies until they began bottling wine under their own label. Topography, the lie of land and quality of soils are crucial to the character of Marlborough's remarkable world class vintages. Dog Point's vines are mostly planted to free draining silty clay loams on the flatter aspects of Marlborough, salubrious soils which infuse grapes with luscious citrus and grapefruit flavours.

Dog Point's older well established vines are planted to free draining silty clay loams, supported by harvests from closely planted hillside blocks. The philosophy at Dog Point is total involvement by the winemakers and partners within the vineyard, to make fully expressive wines. The standard of viticulture is a result of the considerable growing experience shared by the Sutherlands and Healys. One of the keys to the success of their label lies in the vineyard itself, fourteen full time workers attend to pampering the low cropped vines. Dog Point only release a few thousand cases a year, the estate is comprised of eighty hectares, a portion of which is retained by the eminent Cloudy Bay.
 
Straw green hue. Fresh, intensely concentrated aromas of tropical fruits infused with ripe citrus notes, complemented by lifted hints of lemongrass and passionfruit. Fine texture and acidity, a degree of minerality and a lasting, refreshingly crisp finish. Match with white meats, pale cheeses and seafood.
Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc

The wines of Dog Point are a natural expression of the land whence they originate. Fruit is sourced off choice blocks dating back to the late 1970s. These older well established sites are a neighbour of the first commercial vineyard in Marlborough, established by Montana in 1973. Section 94 is a special bottling from a single superior block which produces a distinctly flavoured wine, attenuated to please those who would prefer not to drink a lychee flavoured, grass and gooseberry, Marlborough fruit bomb.

Section 94 is vinified from Sauvignon Blanc grown to a specific area of the estate's vineyard. Section 94 dates back to an early survey of Marlborough, particularly the subdivision of the vast Hawkesbury Run, which at that time encompassed an area of 6878 acres, seven roods and five perches. Wine from this vineyard exhibits distinctive yellow fruit characters, completely oak fermented and treated to an extended term of lees contact, a wine of amazing textural richness and considerable length of flavour. Section 94 is Sauvignon Blanc with a difference, a luxurious eighteen months maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak barriques.
 
Straw green colour. Intense yellow fruits and aromatic nuances of white flowers are integrated by a degree of minerality against a background of lees complexity. Unique full bodied Sauvignon Blanc with considerable depth and complexity. The intense citrus and mineral flavours are complemented by a chalky textural lees influence resulting in a wine with concentration, focused structure and individuality.

Dominique Portet has brought flair and fancy French styling to harvests of the most splendid Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Parcels are collated from the family vineyard at Coldstream, a unique terroir which achieves a Sauvignon Blanc that's a bit unique. Firstly, grapes are left on the vine a little longer, picked by hand and pressed at cooler temperatures for a different kind of flavour. A long cool vinification retains the crispness of Sauvignon Blanc on the vine, a course of regular lees stirring adds aromatics and infuses gentle creaminess.
 
Bright, light lime/ straw colour. Aromas of lime blossom, white peaches and spring flower. The flavours are clear and crisp, a lovely creamy texture, especially on the mid palate. Fresh, dry and so refined, completely ideal as an aperitif, day or night with canape of salmon, seafood ceviche or antipasto. Enjoy at any time and match with or without food.
