There was a single block of older vine Pinot Noir, planted to a well sunlit north facing slope, which had grown quite comfortable in their clay loam soils after twenty splendid vintages. Choice clones of Nebbiolo were grafted atop the responsive rootstock and a marvelous wine began to flow. A month of macerations, wild ferments and an extended term of sixteen months in a cooper's pick of well seasoned French oak puncheons. A big, beautiful bouquet of rose petals, savouryness and spice, Nebbiolo's renowned power and decorum over a booty of graceful, bitter chocolate tannins.

Crafted with the same care and attention to detail as the estate flagship Reserve, parcels of Pinot Noir are hand picked and treated to a Burgundian style vinification, including cold maceration, malolactic and extravagant oak barrel ferments.

$2999each $359DOZEN EACH DOZEN Pinot Noir clones MV6 and 114, 115 and DSV12 are all hand picked across several blocks on the TarraWarra property, off vines up to thirty years of age, grown to high north facing slopes where they can enjoy maximize exposure to the hours of sunshine. Northerly winds from Long Gully provide good air flow and favourable micro climes. Grapes are given ten days skin contact for optimal extraction followed by five days wild indigenous yeast vinification and completion of malolactic. The finished wine is aged in a mix of seasoned and new French oak 225L barrique and 500L puncheons by Francois Freres, Mercurey, Dargaud et Jaegle and Sirugue.

Vibrant raspberry colour. Cherry, dark berry and spice aromas, all the primary fruit characters of violets, sasafras and cherry showing through on the nose. The palate is fully flavoured with black cherry and red currant fruit flavours under a sprinkle of cool climate spice. There's an evenness and structure to the wine, as it's savoury, earthy, yet vibrant palate receives support from a backbone of refined tannins and balanced acidity.

The Valleys Yarra and Cotes du Rhone share a kinship in the realization of fleshy and invigorationg white wines styles. TarraWarra assemble parcels from two splendid rows each of the Rhonesque Rousanne, Viognier and Marsanne, harvested off a balmy north facing vineyard which enjoys excellent exposure to the afternoon sun. Vinified in the old world way and fashioned for optimal balance, structure and length, an exquisitely perfumed accord, characterised by the juicyness of honeysuckle, nettles and crisp mineral, made to match alongside white meat casseroles, mushrooms or fresh fried gujons.

There's a very special southerly facing block at TarraWarra, which was planted to the auspicious Mendoza clone from cuttings off the illustrious Leeuwin Estate vineyards in Margaret River. There are few harvests like it in Yarra Valley, treated to a gentle whole bunch press into French oak barrels for a wild yeast ferment and ten months of age. Defined by its creamy grapefruit curd richness, intensity of flavour and magnificent length, Yarra Valley Chardonnay which bridges the gap between well fleshed fruit and crisp savouryness, moreish at the finish on a lingering note of frangipane and spice.
