Mount Mary Reflexion Fume Blanc
Yarra Valley
Available in cartons of six
Completely oak barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc, in the style of the fashionable Californians who coined the term Fumé Blanc while in search of the ultimate, titillatingly, dry white elixir. Major Thomas Mitchell, Surveyor-General of the colony of New South Wales, named Mount Pierrepoint after Major Charles Pierrepont who served with the 26th Regiment of Foot and fought in the Napoleonic Wars. All the fruit is estate grown and managed for low yields of up to 1½ tonne per acre. The grapes are hand picked, de-stemmed and fermented in open vats. Utmost attention is given to the juice during fermentation including regular, day and night hand plunging. The wine is then very gently basket pressed and placed into a balanced proportion of new and old French oak. Intervention is kept to a minimum enabling the natural character of the fruit to develop after a year's maturation in fine oak.

Bright scarlet in colour. Generous fruit aromas of black cherry, cranberries and red currants are wonderfully balanced by clove and smoky French oak. Powerful yet refined, seductive plush flavours greet the palate, an array of red and black berry fruit flavours are matched by finely grained tannins. Mid palate fleshy richness, generosity and length.

Narkoojee are a boutique operation committed to the production of premier quality wines, reflecting both varietal and regional character. Narkoojee, meaning place of flowers, was a dairy farm owned and operated by Edna and Athelstan Friend, since the early 1940s. Their son Harry planted the first experimental vines back in 1980. The vineyard is planted to deep alluvial soils with mixtures of clay, silt, sand and ironstone gravels. The combination of location, soils and climate forms the ideal environment for production of classic cool climate wines. Chardonnay is wild indigenous vineyard yeast fermented, followed by a course of maturation in a mix of seasoned and new French oak barriques.

Brilliant green gold colour. Citrus with melon bouquets, peach and stone fruit kernel. An intensely flavoured wine with melon and white nectarine on the palate, citrus, lemon zest and spicy, integrated French oak. Creamily textured with a long finish balanced by clean mineral acid. Marvelously integrated, seamless and ripe, the perfect wine to accompany white meats and the freshest seafood.

Drive Block was established to Chardonnay clone P58 in 1990, closely planted to the red volcanic soils of Wandin East on a north facing slope at 240 meters above sea level. Grapes are all hand picked and sorted prior to whole bunch pressing directly to a selection of seasoned and new French oak puncheons for a naturally wild, indigenous vinification. Upon completion, batches are retained on gross sedimentery solids for ten months, followed by a further six months, a single filtration and the final assemblage. The extended term on fermentation lees builds layers of rich flavour, creamyness and mineral complexity, infusing luxurious textural richness.

Straw colour, greenish hues. Ripe white stone fruit, flints and toast, vanilla and brioche, poached quince, ripeness throughout, fullness, an opulence of fruit. Creamy palate, rich and textural, profound weight of stone fruit, the wine evolves, peppery grapefruits and spice, toastyness and flint, its effusive array flavours continue on an endless, savoury finish.
