The auspicious soils on Doctors block are fortuitiously littered with just the right amount of surface stones, reflecting the sun's warmth and hinting at just how tough the vines need to be to sustain growth and yield a high quality harvest of fruit. A combination of super rich soils and favourable climes make the holy grail for Riesling. Grapes are picked throughout the cool of night, de stemmed and crushed, a day of cold soak is followed a gentle press for finest free run juices. Batches are vinified by wild vineyard yeast flora on full solids over the course of a fortnight. Six months of lees stirring battonage builds complexity and texture.

Pale straw, green tinge hues. A stunning wine exuding wonderful florals, delicate lime and citrus notes, hints of lemon and fennel, bosc pear. A very fine palate with great length of acid, purity of lime fruits and crisp, lemon with hints of musk and fennel, balanced finish. The perfect accompaniment to freshly shucked oysters, Atlantic salmon or king george whiting.

The avenue leading to these elite NASAA Organic Certified vineyards is called Blue Cutting Road. Grey loam acid soils over sandstone and slate make up the profile, much of the top soil is littered by rock, hinting at just how tough the vines must be to sustain growth and produce quality fruit, not to mention the work of the vigneron to ensure quality. Fruit is hand harvested, each section of the vineyard is treated separately. Grapes are de stemmed and given a gentle crush to burst the berries. The finest quality free runs are chilled, preserving expression of fruit, seeded and treated to a fortnight of vinification. Upon completion, the wine is racked off lees, chilled to 5C and filtered before bottling.

Pale straw with steely green tinges. Delicately perfumed with a hint of musk and bath powder. Textured palate with hints of orange rind, lime and spice. This wonderfully fragrant, blossom accented wine, has great mouthfeel, balance, and an impeccable lingering finish. Delicate, balanced with crisp natural acidity. The Taranga site overlooks McLaren Vale township. Along with good old gut feeling, which comes from years of knowing the vines and terroir upon which they are grown, state of the art computer controlled irrigation technology is employed to administer the optimum stress levels to the vine, translating into some of the world's finest Shiraz. Each block is individually nurtured depending on vine age, terroir and requirements of the winery. Most of Taranga's harvest is destined for other companies, only the pick of the very pick will find their way into HJ Reserve. The finished wine is matured thirty months in nothing but the finest, tightly grained, exclusively French oak barriques, half of which are completely new.

Deep, dark maroon colour. Excellent spicy lift, strong mocha and dark chocolate overtones in the bouquet. Super intense palate, showing the distinctive HJ restraint and finesse. A wine with impressive depth of fruit right through the middle palate. Selected from the best parcels of old vine Shiraz, HJ has been barrel selected and bottle aged for optimum flavour and enhancement.
