Ardbeg Corryvreckan Islay Malt 700ml
Man the lifeboats! Here comes the second wave of this deliciously deep, powerfully peaty and wonderfully wild whisky. Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture. Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Its briny character of crisp seaweed, sweet vanilla and rich, dark melted fruits draws you into a long deep finish. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted!.

Experiments initiated in 1999 have accumulated parcels of Ardbeg stock slowly maturing in French oak casks. These are at the heart of Corryvreckan's perplexing character, teasing spicy and sumptuous sweet fruity notes from the maturing whisky. A combo of French oak casks with classic Ardbeg matured in ex bourbon American oak casks to bring a unique contrast of extraordinary and unexpected tastes. Torrents of tarry coffee and waxy dark chocolate give way to sweet and sumptuous autumn fruits (blackberries and plump cherries) and overtones of peppered oak spices. Bottled at a powerful 57.1% and non chill-filtered, the taste is intense, the mouthfeel chewy. Truly a peaty paradox if ever there was one!

The deepest amber colour. Heady, intense aromas, powerful. With the first sniff, encounter the deep and turbulent force of Corryvreckan as it pulls you inwards. Swirl the glass and dip your nose into the torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil rising from deep within the vortex. A burst of plump cherries and earthy pine needles leaping from its depths.
Ardbeg Isle of Islay 10 Years Single Malt 700ml
Isle of Islay
Somehow against a backdrop of raiding Norsemen, inter-island clan battles and English taxation, Ardbeg emerged as unquestionably the greatest distillery on earth. Ardbeg Ten Years Old is a very special bottling for the Ardbeg distillery as it is the first non-chill filtered whisky in the Ardbeg range. Chill filtering isn't a bad thing, in fact it created real consistency of product when the whisky industry was a little more hap-hazard than it is today. Ardbeg Ten Years Old is whisky with none of the goodness taken out and as good as straight from the cask.

The inhabitants of Islay had been enjoying the effects of strong wines and aquavitae for years before the Ardbeg distillery was established. Even attempts to suppress the unruly islanders with a heavy malt tax could not deter illicit distillers and smugglers operating around Ardbeg's rocky cove. This was perhaps an inevitable consequence for a remote island, so difficult for the excisemen to reach, yet blessed with an abundance of natural resources needed for producing whisky - fertile soil, peat bogs and unlimited supplies of soft peaty water.

A true whisky gold colour with a shimmering amber twinkle like the Ardbeg Burn at sunset. Mountains of mellow peaty sweet tropical fruits on the nose - heady bouquet of sweet grainy ferments, malt yeasts, matted summer straw and sugar cane. A sweet and undivided palate with melons, smokey dried fruits, apricots, more yellow fruits and ripe melons, walnuts and a continuing ripe honey-dew and pipe tobacco clinging finish that's just becomes more and more delicious as the spirit subsides.

Auchentoshan 18 Years Lowland Malt 700ml
What does it mean to be the only Triple Distilled Single Malt In Scotland? It's more time consuming. It's more expensive. And it's also absolutely unique, no other Single Malt Scotch Whisky goes beyond two distillations for every drop. Why do Auchentoshan persist? The extra distillation takes refinement of spirit to around 81% as opposed to 70%. This dramatically affects the character of finished Malt, arriving at a most subtle Whisky that matures beautifully in a selection of American oak casks which have previously been used for ageing Bourbon.

Auchentoshan Blood Oak Malt 700ml
Why does Auchentoshan's flavour stand so far apart? There are two main answers, the skill of Auchentoshan's Mash and Still men, as well as an insistence on ancient methodolgy, wooden washbacks and triple distillation. Auchentoshan is the only distillery in Scotland to employ a third still, every single drop is distilled three times and matured exclusively in American oak Bourbon casks. The result, a Lowland Single Malt Whisky with the sweet aromas of vanilla and coconut, along with the signature smooth and delicate, Auchentoshan taste.
