One of the earliest wine grapes on historical record, a small parcel of Fiano was planted to a lofty hilltop site with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding vineyards at Myrrhee in Valley King. Treated to an old world style, wild yeast barrel ferment, lees stirring battonage and eight months of age in a selection of seasoned French oak barriques. Feijoa, basil and lemon, thyme, supported by subtle creamyness and a fine seam of crisp minerality, a splash of varietal sibling Garganega contributes yet another layer of interest to an intriguing wine.

Chardonnay is sourced from good growers who are fastidious about their canopy management, a practice that's necessary to produce high quality harvests from the rich and fertile volcanic soils. Moderate crop levels encourage grapes to ripen early and evenly, retaining fresh natural acidity. Harvested early in the vintage, grapes are gently handled and treated to a long, cool vinification for retention of flavour and to keep phenolics at bay, the majority in fermenters without any malolactic. Some components are filled to oak for a course of ferments in seasoned French barriques.


Pale straw with bright green hues. Fresh aromas of lemon and lime zest, ripe peach notes are overlaid by nougat and spice. The palate is generously layered with flavours of green tropical fruits and lime curd, creamily textured with just a hint of French oak, balanced by a refreshing citrus acidity at the finish.

Redbank retain some of the best vineyards in the higher altitudes of Victoria's bountiful northern winegrowing districts. Sites planted to cooler climes offer slower ripening conditions which translate into the full development of flavours. Long Paddock is fashioned from the finest harvests of Merlot on offer, the finely grained tannins, gentle palate and aromatic qualities can make any further ageing unnecessary. A forward drinking wine, redolent with plum and cherry characters and like all good Merlot, scrumptuous with fine food.

Redbank's high altitude, cool climate vineyards are planted to rich, deep volcanic soils that are fertile and replenished by good natural irrigation. Batches of fruit sourced from warmer sites lower down the valley floors contribute richness and complexity to the finished wine. To control vigorous growth, the vineyards are carefully managed at every phase throughout the season. Growers implement a canopy management and crop thinning program to ensure the vines deliver high quality fruit with good colour and a concentration of flavours. Several months in a selection of seasoned French oak barriques, achieves a fully integrated wine with soft supportive tannins.


Deep dark red. Aromas of ripe berries and plum, showing secondary notes of cedar, briar and violets, nicely wrapped within a subtle oak framework. A medium to full bodied wine, the fleshy plum fruits and velvet textures deliver a wine of quality and structure. Fine grained tannins complement the fruit and support the length of palate all the way to a pleasant, lasting finish.

Through the hard work of growers and diligence of the Redbank viticultural team, the very healthiest vines have been established and trained to yield parcels of the finest Pinot Gris. A vigorous wine with revitalizingly fresh fruit characters and the exquisite tang of tropical acids, to accompany freshly grilled fishes, dainty nibbles or the finest tasty cheese.

Fruit is selected from a number of viticultural precincts, which provide a diversity of vineyard resources to construct a wine which defines the uniqueness of Pinot Gris. The aim is to include parcels which have achieved full flavour development whilst still retaining vibrant aromatics. Grapes are hand picked and held in a cold room for eighteen hours, before being whole bunch pressed to ensure minimal colour pick up from the slightly pink skins. Juices are clarified before a cool fermentation which captures the fresh flavours of this stylish and exotic grape. Unwooded and unoaked, bottled promptly after vinification to retain and express the defining elements of pure, varietal Pinot Gris.

A bright clean, pale straw colour. Complex aromas of stonefruits and grapefruit, citrus and spiced pears, herbs and nashi pears and lifted fresh florals of white flowers. Crisp, with nuts and citrus, a medium bodied wine, very soft and juicy, with a nutty, complex textured middle palate finishing on a note of sweetness and minerality. Just great by itself, goes perfectly with tempura and any other seafood or white meat.

Redbank selects most of it's fruit for the Long Paddock from high altitude sites and across Victoria's finest viticultural precincts. The winemaking team spend long hours in the vineyard carefully selecting each parcel of fruit at different levels of flavour development, time well spent, which contributes to the complexity and texture of the finished wine. Sauvignon Blanc from choice vineyards is handled in separate batches with varying time on skins, depending on the attributes and flavour profile. Juices are pressed off skins, free run and pressings kept separate, chilled and racked to fermentation. Vinified at cool temperatures to maximise the aromatics and retain freshness.


A very pale straw with green gold tints. Lifted aromas of passionfruit rind, nougat and custard apple with underlying grassy notes of nettle and fresh green herb. Zesty citrus acidity upfront leads into generous green tropical fruit flavours on the middle palate. This round viscosity lingers onto a fresh grapefruit pith finish. Grapes are harvested from small family operated vineyards, some are in Victoria's high country, covered in snow during winter and shrouded by cloud at other times of year. Further harvests of Shiraz from slightly warmer climes contribute complexity. Fruit is inoculated in a combination of large static and rotary fermenters. Warm temperatures at the onset of vinification and an average of three to five days post ferment maceration have extracted soft fleshy tannins and formed a solid palate structure. Maturation in a combination of prior use American and French oak barriques has integrated the wine and softened the tannins, achieving a generous Shiraz style.


Deep crimson in colour. Brooding aromas of plum and dark berry fruits with a hint of cedar and star anise. The palate is expressive of its cool climate origins, rich yet elegantly structured with generous dark chocolate, blackberry and spice flavours on the palate, finishing with soft tannins. Sourced off two King Valley vineyards, Pinot Gris is hand picked as the grapes ripen to a balance of aromatics, fruit richness and fresh acidity, to achieve a wine of elegance and flavour. Each site contributes unique characters to the finished wine. The Cavedon property has been supplying fruit since inaugural release, providing fullness of flavour, structure and a distinct minerality. Higher up the valley is the vineyard of David Burder, one of mainland Australia's highest sites at 860 metres, contributing classic Pinot Gris aromas and flavours of rose petal, blossoms and fragrant spice, combined with a fresh, restrained acidity. Sunday Morning is bottled soon after vintage, maximizing the varietal characters.

The Long Paddock wines honour the ingenuity and courage of the early Australian drovers

Inflicted with cruel and regular droughts, these men and women faced the option of giving up and starving along with their cattle and sheep or flinging open their boundary gates and allowing their stumbling, starving stock to roam the bush roads and tracks in the desperate hope of finding food and water. Somewhere. Anywhere. This was known as “droving the Long Paddock”, a task that could take them away from their family and home for months and months. Sometimes even years. Fortunately some stock was saved. Unfortunately for some, when the rains didn’t come the heartbreak of seeing their stock die became a regular occurrence. This was the beginning of the Long Paddock tradition.

Long Paddock's flagship Anvil Shiraz reminds us of times gone by when settlers handcrafted their farming implements with the heat of the forge and the strength of the anvil. Filled with hope and determination, these pioneers set about taming much of Victoria’s uncharted lands. Celebrating the badge of Redbank, The Anvil Shiraz continues the Redbank philosophy of seeking outstanding fruit from premium regions within Victoria.


Much of Victoria is littered with long abandoned miners' camps and long forgotten mine shafts that gave little to the battling prospector of the 1850s gold rush. During the same time notorious bushrangers roamed the high country of North East Victoria robbing the gold and mail coaches and stealing the valuable livestock of wealthy land owners. This colouful heritage inspired the wines from the King Valley. New varietal styles from high altitude vineyards reflect the diversity of the King Valley. Fruit for these wines is harvested from vineyards that sit at nearly 800 metres above sea level, covered in snow in winter and shrouded in cloud during other times of the year. The high altitude valleys of Eastern Victoria are about three hours drive from the state capital, Melbourne. Situated in the heart of the Alpine Way, the region was the home of The Man from Snowy River, the horseman immortalised in Banjo Patterson's classic Australian poem. After the Second World War, the region was settled by many Europeans, mainly Italian. These hard-working migrants established a thriving farming community. The rich, fertile soils and high rainfall provided an ideal climate for growing quality crops. The most prolific plantings were tobacco, but other crops such as hops and wine grapes also grew well. Today tobacco and hops farming has all but disappeared, and the region is becoming one of the more important cool climate grape growing areas in Australia. More than 2,500 acres are planted out to premium grape varieties, with some vineyards planted in granite based soils on mountain slopes more than 800 metres above sea level. Early autumn mornings see these vineyards hidden by low cloud that shrouds the nearby mountains.	The Long Paddock winemakers and viticulturists work closely with a dedicated family of carefully selected independent growers. These small family-run vineyards offer unique and subtle soil and altitude differences that provide the winemakers with an opportunity to create distinctive wines reflecting the finest attributes of the regions. Fruit for the Long Paddock and King Valley wines is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Victoria’s high country, from the Alpine, King and Ovens Valleys.
The magnificent fifteen hectare Myrrhee Ridge vineyard has been added to the Redbank portfolio. This uniquely located vineyard in the mountain range which overlooks the township of Whitfield in the King Valley has supplied Shiraz grapes for Redbank wines since it was established ten years ago. In the Spring of 2006 plantings of Pinot Gris and Garganega vines were added. Long Paddock's flagship Anvil Shiraz is crafted from fruit from the Heathcote region of Central Victoria.Unlike the high altitude vineyards of the King and Ovens Valleys in Victoria's high country, Heathcote is a long-established wine growing area in Central Victoria, approximately two hours North West of Melbourne. The first vines were planted in the 1860s. Sadly the vines were virtually wiped out by phylloxera in 1893, and it wasn't until the 1960s that the region was re-established. Today there are approximately 2900 acres under vines.
