Grove Estate Partners Reserve Sangiovese 2004
Hilltops
Grove Estate has specialized in the nurture of an array of alternative varietals, seamlessly bringing together Sangiovese, Barbera, Petit Verdot and Nebbiolo into an exotic, plush balance of bright fruit and tannin. Decidedly tangy and mediterranean the 2004 Partner's Reserve is a creative follow up to recent award winning releases crafted around this complex blend. A heated blood red wine that's awash with generous blackberry fruit, it would have to be classed as a first choice from the Hilltops region to match with bay leaf and olivey Italian dishes or provencale cuisine.

The Grove Estate property has a long history of involvement with the wine and grape growing industry in the Hilltops Region. Vines were originally planted back in 1886, and some of these ancient fruit bearing vines still remain. The partners of Grove Estate decided to keep a small parcel of fruit and produce a range of premium wines under their own label. Crafted to a quenching mediterranean styling, it's a rich warm weather Tuscan that's made to be enjoyed young and cooled if you like your reds chilled, and as a suitable accompaniment for adventurous cuisine that mates with tingly reds. Alcohol 14.5%

The aroma of this Reserve wine is of ripe warm weather fruit, leather and olive integrated well with lightly seasoned sweet oak. It has a big structured palate with firm yet ripe fruit augmented by lingering tannins, well balanced and built to age. Grapefruit and peppery nuances of the Italian varietals combine with the Medocey Verdot flavours into a finish that's reminiscent of bread and chocolate. A rich earthy wine, which will complement all mediterranean lunches and dinners, it's made in a food friendly Italianate style, textural and grippy and is really satisfying with barbecued food.
The Grove Estate was purchased in 1989 with the aim of producing premium cool climate wine grapes

The Grove Estate property already has had a long history of involvement with the wine and grape growing industry in the Hilltops Region as vines were originally planted on the property back in 1886. Situated on rich red volcanic soils at 500m above sea level, some of these ancient vines remain on the original parcels. In the last ten years, over 40 hectares of vines have been planted including the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Zinfandel, Barbera, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Semillon.
