Schild Estate Alma Reserve Chardonnay
Barossa
Available by the dozen
Alma was the Schild matriarch, married to estate founder Ben Schild, she raised a family of eight children under primitive conditions while supporting her husband throughout the establishment of Schild vineyards. The original homestead at Three Springs was acquired by Ben in 1952 as a mixed farm with dairy sheep, stonefruit orchard and a small acreage of vines. Alma showed the greatest perseverance whilst encouraging her husband and nurturing a large family during some of the most impoverished times in Australian history.

The Schild approach is very much centred around progress in the vineyard. Everything is aimed at preserving the character of quality fruit without too much interference from the winery. Fruit is sourced from the Schild family's best parcel of Chardonnay at Moorooroo Vineyard near Rowland Flat, grapes are harvested and picked at optimum ripeness in the cool night air. Grapes are de stemmed and the musts are chilled, vinified in controlled fermenters followed by transfer to barrel for completion of ferments, lees stirring, malolactic and a term of maturation. Quality French oak and several months on lees infuses the palate and contributes texture to an elegant yet complex Chardonnay.

Bright straw hue. Fragrant peach and honeydew melon bouquets overlaid with toasty French oak. Fresh tropical fruits on the palate combine with restrained hints of oak and creamy, nutty mouth feel derived from lees stirring during maturation. Apricots and peach flavours dominate the palate, delivering richness of flavour along with a subtle acid backbone ensuring the wine remains stylish, fresh and elegant, all the way to a lengthy finish.

The unique tapestry of Schild's vineyards allows the team to craft wines which are honesty and satisfying. Three Springs Farm is where the original Schild homestead is located. Situated on Steingarten Road at Rowland Flat, Three Springs sits at 380 metres above sea level. Vineyards at this altitude are traditionally much lower yielding than the Barossa Valley floor, producing higher quality fruit. Parcels of Chardonnay are fermented at low temperatures in tank to preserve fresh varietal expression and to achieve a bright fruit forward style, supported by a complex structure and full flavour development derived from extended lees contact post fermentation, bottled completely unoaked.

Pale gold with green hues. Lifted notes of banana and tropical fruit, guavas and a touch of lemongrass. Traces of stone fruit, apricots and young rock melon combine over a solid palate and fine taut structure, providing clear direction and balance. Ample flavours and good weight of fruit on the mid palate, fresh, crisp and extremely varietal without the use of any oak.
Schild Estate Moscato
Barossa Adelaide Hills
Available by the dozen
Come home to Mama! The Schild family have been growing Frontignac Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains for over sixty years, originally sourced by the nation's most eminent labels for bottling as rich fortified wines. The deliciously refreshing grape has found a new calling, as a pretty, delicate style of aromaticness and moreishness. Conspicuous for her arrestingly ripe, juicy fruit flavours, a daintily perfumed accord, bursting with ripe grape characters over a teasingly petulant palate and sweetly satiating finish.

The Schild family established their Barossa vineyards in 1952 and have since developed a reputation for consistency and quality in their approach to viticulture. Schild are style driven according to selection of vineyard, clonal stock and variety of fruit. Individual parcels are nurtured to produce wines of exceptional quality and finesse. It is the primary philosophy that minimal handling of the fruit at harvest and during the vinification produces better wines. Frontignac grapes are treated to a traditional vinification at the Schild estate wineworks, the final Moscato is fashioned to create a wine of balance, freshness and complexity.

Clear, bright, a slight spritz. Delicate but intense perfume of elderflower, white floral notes and tasty turkish delight. Tropical fruits, rose petal water, grapeyness and pear, citrus and subtle piquant characters of lemon lime pith, a faint touch of quinine followed by a fresh long finish, a deliciously lip smacking aftertaste sets you up for the next sip.
Schild Estate Riesling
Barossa
Available by the dozen
The Schild Estate vineyards are spread out over several unique mesoclimes and soils around Lyndoch and across the southern districts of Barossa Valley. Ed Schild purchased Tweedies Gully vineyard in 1977, noting that the prime location with its westerly aspect, high altitude and sandy loam soils, would be perfect for growing extra fine Riesling. Schild encapsulates the generous style that is purely Barossa. Good acidity with lean, clean characteristics, exhibiting the tight structure and profound expression of fruit which have brought Schild so much renown.

The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa, dating back to 1952 when patriarch Ben Schild acquired his Three Springs Farm property at Rowland Flat. The unique tapestry of estate vineyards permits a wide range of varieties to be grown to their full potential and allows the team to craft wines that speak of honesty and drinkability. A combination of neutral yeast selection and fermentation in temperature controlled vessels maintains the aromatics and flavour depth of the fruit. Immediately after fermentation is complete, the wines are prepared for bottling. The whole process from vineyard to bottle is completed within six weeks to retain the freshest characteristics within the finished wine.

Clear bright colour with green hues. Lifted floral notes and enticing citrus aromas. Delicate florals on the front palate provide a generous depth of flavour. A well integrated citrus backbone on the back of the palate delivers freshness, clear direction and a nice taut structure. Well integrated and fine Riesling flavours throughout, before a fresh, crisp finish.
