Inspired by the lush fruitiness of the Italian classic Moscato d'Asti, Gapsted is a blend in name and in style, of the piquant Traminer Musque grape and the wickedly luscious Frontignac Muscato bianco. Traminer is sourced from Whitlands Vineyard, grown to the higher, elevated aspects of Valley King, picked early to retain freshness and lively fruit character. This slightly spritzy Moscato drinks well on its own but also suits a range of lighter desserts such as pannacotta or soft cheese, dried fruits or peach almond recipes.

The vibrant Alpine fruit characters of Traminer are a result of cool breezes and snow run off in spring, which provides abundant clear, fresh water to the Whitlands vineyard. The cool ripening conditions prevent high levels of transpiration, allowing the Traminer to retain natural acids, sugars and lifted fruit flavours. A very slow, and cold controlled ferment at seven degrees for five weeks, ensured retains fresh crisp varietal characters. Fermentation is stopped at six degrees of baume by chilling the wine and fining. Some naturally occurring CO2 is retained in the wine for a light frizzante style. Alcohol 6.5%

Bright pale straw hues. Exotic florals with hints of middle eastern spice, aromas of rose petal and spicey musk, pears and turkish delight. The palate is alive with fresh peaches and grape, an intensely flavoured wine with florals and five spice, generous and poised. An assemblage of old, to very old stocks Muscat à petit grains, patiently matured under the Grant Burge cellars in a selection of well seasoned, larger format oak barrels. Painstakingly aged to the Iberian Solera system, as the batches progress along a virtual conveyer belt, topped up with vintages of fresher Muscat as the angels take their share. A luscious, complex wine with enormous depth of toothsome flavours, ample aged rancio richness, balanced by fresh fruit, for a wine that develops cleanly on an everlasting, moreish finish.

It's all Pedro Ximenez, through and through, picked at the peak of sugar ripeness and spread out on slotted crates under the sun for a highly risque term of three weeks. The intensely parched grapes are like little treasure chests of extravagantly complex flavours, fermented to 17% alcohol, fortified with Grant Burge brandy and sent to a selection of small, well seasoned oak barrels for ten long years. The splendid Alsatian tradition, of assembling wines across a number of varietals, into a whole that's greater than the sum of parts. Hugel offers the suave, spicyness of Gewurztraminer, the body of Pinot Gris and finesse of Riesling, grapiness of Muscat and refreshing character of Sylvaner, within a single, exquisitely balanced wine. The long and cool growing season of the Riquewihr plateau, makes a major contribution to the cohesion of this unique, dry wine, adding finesse and encouraging a harmonious integration of the complex characters.

$3399each $407DOZEN EACH DOZEN A kaleidoscope of varietal fruit characters, assembled from exclusively hand picked grapes, off vines twenty five years of age, predominantly planted to clay and limestone soils, in a dozen of the finest precincts in and around Riquewihr. Grapes are picked into small tubs and treated to a gravity filled press, without any pumping or mechanical interventions, to retain the integrity of fruit. Musts are decanted for a few hours, followed by vinification in temperature controlled barrels or vats at 18C to 24C. Batches are racked and allowed to clarify by cold settling throughout the course of winter. Components are lightly filtered the following spring, bottled and aged under the Hugel cellars until release.

Bright pale green hues. Fresh, and deeply fragrant, blossom florals, jasmine and rose, almond and acacia, white peaches and pear, bitter orange and spice. Discreetly elegant and dry palate, soundly structured body and great length, lightly opulent, its finish is well scented, aromatic and crisp. Enjoy young, for its frank, aromatic bouquet, reflecting the diversity of each Alsace grape.

A lively cépage of Black and Gordo Muscat grown to the Boulton and Duffy, Burge, Wall and Pratt Vineyards at Swan Hill. Early harvest is essential to arrive at a benign level of alcohol, a palate full of flavour, crispy citrus tang and natural fruit sweetness. A scrumptuous wine with an exotic mix of watermelon, musk and rose petal flavours, red apple, hubba bubba and pink ice cream. It's low in alcohol but a single bottle is unlikely to be enough because with a drink this good, there's no excuse for not sharing.

All fruit is harvested at night to modest sugar baumes, as flavour ripeness is achieved at lower sugar levels. Grapes are chilled and crushed, treated to six hours skin contact for optimal extraction of pink hues from the Black Muscat. Fruit is then pressed into fermenters and the juices inoculated for a long and cold vinification until full natural carbonation is reached and the optimum balance between sugar and alcohol is achieved. The finished wine is cold filtered and chill bottled at 0C to retain freshness and effervescence, before sealing under crown cap to capture the effervescence. Alcohol 5.5%

Lipstick colour with salmon hue, a slight frizzante and delicate bead. Fruit tingle and sherbet, fairy floss and fresh fuzzy peach nose. Sticky, a real turkish delight, raspberry jelly, peach sherbet and rosewater palate, clean and crisp, makes the most wonderful apertif. Match with fresh pancakes and poached fruit or cheeses and muscadel.

The aim is to acquire the best fruit possible, whatever the cost, because without great fruit there can be no great wine. All work is done by hand. Grapes are only picked when optimum flavour ripeness is matched by good natural acidity. Fruit is harvested at night, chilled and crushed, followed by eight hours skin contact to arrive at the gorgeous blushing pink colour. Parcels are pressed to tank and filtered bright before inoculation. Juices are fermented long and cold until full natural carbonation is reached and the balance between sugar and alcohol is achieved. The final wine is cold filtered at -1C to retain freshness and effervescence. Alcohol 5.5%

Pretty in pink with a slight petulance. Turkish delight, fruit tingle, sherbet, fairy floss, fresh fuzzy peach. Raspberry jelly, peach sherbet, rosewater. Clean and crisp. By one of the most enduring marques in Cotes du Rhone, Antoine Jaboulet established vines here in 1834, his legacy remains, a catalog of the most renowned Vignoble and Domaines in all France. Every year, an exquisite wine is born from the Jaboulet vineyards, an enticing elixir of dulcet appeal and celestial charm that's shaped by nature. Medieval historian Pliny the Elder referred to this wine in his Natural History, but it was not until the seventeenth century, when the site was planted to Muscat, that Vin Doux Naturel was to become famous.

$4399each $527DOZEN EACH DOZEN For almost two centuries, Paul Jaboulet has shared in the passion and dedication of his Rhone Valley growers. From fully mature vines over thirty years of age, yielding small berried Muscat grapes, planted to pebbly limestone slopes between the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. The harvest is highly selective, grapes are directly pressed after successive passes through the vineyard, in search of fruit with a minimum natural sugar content of 252 grams per litre. A cold vinification on sedimentery lees brings the desired residual sugar level of 11%. Ferments are then arrested by Mutage, the addition of a neutral alcohol. A period of cool maturation ensues, followed by a further term of age in bottle.

Clear, bright golden hue. White peach, quince and exotic fruit aromas, followed by notes of honey and candied fruit. The palate starts out full and fresh, floral citrus notes and preserved pith, lemon marmalade and apricot flavoues before a warm finale lychees, lemon and curd. Drink as aperitif or douse over iced melon, enjoy with sorbets or almond and peach gratin.
