A profound construct of West Australian Riesling, from fruit grown to a fastidiously managed site at Frankland River, one of the most isolated vineyards in the world, the product of uncompromising standards in viticulture. The vineyard is planted to Geisenheim and Rhine Riesling clones, into ironstone gravel over loam and clay subsoils, on an undulating northeast facing slope. The long slow ripening periods of Frankland River encourage maximum development of flavour while maintaining the distinctive racy acidity and dry finish for which Riesling is renowned. Grapes are pressed immediately and juices settled overnight, before being racked, aiming to minimise intervention, capturing the purest and finest expression of fruit grown to Isolation Ridge. The organically grown Riesling is treated to a cool vinification in a mix of fermenters and neutral oak at low temperatures of less than 14C

Light green straw colour. Intense aromatics of ironstone flintiness, lashings of lime with lifted floral notes. Fine and elegant, yet fills the mouth with a concentrated mix of juicy lime and citrus notes followed by a core of spicy ironstone minerality. A generous mouth filling texture but with an underlying tightness showing length, balance and focus giving the wine personality and direction.

Isolation Ridge are part of a larger wool growing enterprise. The decision to diversify the farm and plant vines came after a tour of French vineyards and two vintages worked at Bordeaux's Chateau Senejac. The Isolation Ridge vineyard is managed to organic viticultural practices which is reflected in the depth and concentration and palate weight of the finished wine. The property sits on an undulating north and east facing slope on ancient duplex soils of gravel and loam over clay sub soil. Vines are trained to Scott Henry trellis, enhancing sunlight penetration of the canopy for optimal ripening. Fruit is vinified as long and as slow as possible, at temperatures not exceeding 30C in open pot fermentation tanks, allowing the cap to be worked by plunging and gentle pump overs. An extended maceration is employed for optimal extractions. The finished wine is aged in 500 litre French oak puncheons, contributing textural complexity without compromising the opulent natural fruit flavours.

Close management of vines and a holistic approach to viticulture make a major contribution to the ultimate quality of wine. Parcels are assembled from choice Frankland River sites, treated to vinification through the action of wild yeasts in traditional open top fermenters and gently pressed off skins at dryness into a selection of French oak barrels, for completion of malolactic and an extravagant sixteen months maturation.

Dark red, scarlet hues. Lifted aromatics of black olive and cassis, dark currants and blueberry are supported by the cedar and spice of French oak. Oustanding Langtons Classification. Jack Mann was one of Australia's most innovative and influential winemakers. He immersed himself in the single pursuit of producing the most stately wines while at Houghton throughout a half century of memorable vintages. Cuvee Jack Mann is Houghton's finest wine and Western Australia's most iconic Cabernet. Small amounts of peerless quality grapes, an original Houghton clone developed by Jack Mann himself, are hand picked from the very heart of a distinguished vineyard and individually considered for inclusion.

$16199each $1943DOZEN EACH DOZEN Fruit is sourced from the distinguished Justin Vineyard in the Frankland River region. Soils are largely degraded granite gravels, some of the oldest in the world. Even within the single vineyard, particular blocks of vine, more than thirty five years of age, known as patches 12 and 13, are set aside exclusively for Jack Mann. Grapes are hand harvested, hand sorted, crushed and vinified in small open top fermenters. Caps are plunged by hand before gently pressing the wine into new and one year old French oak barrels from choice Bordeaux cooperages for eighteen months maturation, before assemblage, fining and bottling without filtration. Only a few hundred cases are ever made.

Dense, deep purple red, scarlet hue. Intense aromatics of blackberry, cassis and dark berry fruits, black olive and hints of mint with dark chocolate and fine cedary French oak. The palate is full flavoured, rich, complex and intense. Concentrated, classic varietal fruit characters, plush and sweet, supported by fine tannin structure and integrated French oak, great acid definition and depth of flavour characterize this exceptional wine.

Three British Army officers, in their capacity as agents of the East India Company, established one of Western Australia's first agricultural enterprises in 1836. Named after Captain Richmond Houghton, it was not until Thomas Yule's stewardship that vines were planted and the first vintage of Houghton wine flowed in 1859. Thomas Yule now sources fruit from the eminent Justin Vineyard in Frankland River, a dark ruby Shiraz of lifted liquorice and intense brambleberry, seasoned by piquant pepper notes and supported by a length of exceptionally fine tannins.

Batches are vinified to wild indigenous yeasts, upon completion to dryness, ferments are pressed and filled into a selection of Burgundy coopered French oak barriques for secondary malolactic and fourteen months maturation before assemblage. The inclusion of Malbec rounds out the palate and introduces wonderful complexity.

Dark ruby red. Bright, lifted blueberry and raspberry fruits, hints of black pepper and liquorice with nuances of spicy vanillin oak rounding off the bouquet. The palate is medium to full bodied, filled with an intensity of lozenge fruit flavours. A firm tannin structure with a soft acid balance frame a richly proportioned Shiraz, a long, sustained finish.
