Sourced exclusively from Valley Eden, select parcels of hand picked Shiraz and Viognier have been crushed and co-vinified together in open fermenters, utilising the Yalumba designed cap plunger to control colour and tannin extraction. Natural indigenous yeast ferments have added a degree of wild complexity. The big difference with this wine is the handling of Viognier skins. By separating the juices from skins and fermenting with select parcels, the skins have provided more powerful aromas and texture, contributing another dimension of flavour and complexity to the finished wine. Matured twenty months in a combination of seasoned and new French and Hungarian oak hogsheads and barriques.

Deeply red in colour with purple hues. A warm bouquet showing florals and bright blueberry, coffee and cedar, anise and a subtle aromatic sweetness from the Viognier. A wine of purity, fineness and texture, the palate is medium to full bodied and beautifully weighted, packed with dark fleshy cherry fruits and anise notes, finishing on a length of powdery tannins.

Individual parcels are separately crushed into six tonnes static pumpover fermenters or eight tonnes open top steel vats, employing the Yalumba design cap plunger. Most parcels are completely destemmed, some batches are left with stems on to contribute complexity and texture. Wild indigenous yeasts present on grape skins initiate the ferments, this may happen within the first twelve hours or it may take up to three days, cultured yeasts are then added to ensure completion. Upon completion, select batches are treated to a term of up to three months on skins for maceration. Components are then filled to a selection of prior use French, American and Hungarian oak hogsheads for nine months.

Zeppelin was created by Artisan of the Barossa winemakers Corey Ryan and Kym Teusner. Proud of the contribution which German settlers made to the young colony of South Australia, the brand was named in honour of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a brave and progressive German who thought really big. A very simplistic approach to winemaking however, means that the elegance of Eden Valley Shiraz is preserved in the final wine. Fruit is vinified in open fermenters, pumped over by hand and treated to a good old fashioned basket press. Following maturation in a selection of older oak barrels to soften the tannins while retaining vibrant fruit character, Amelie is bottled without any fining or filtration. Alcohol 14.0%

Deep dark purple red in colour. Amelie flaunts a nose of rich dark fruit, vanilla blossom and delicate spice notes enhanced by an equally rich, full bodied palate of dark red fruits. Concentrated cassis, and raspberry flavours are balanced by soft, elegant tannins and fine oak finish.
