Murray Street Black Label Barossa Shiraz
Barossa
Available by the dozen
Murray Street was established in 2001 by families Seppelt and Jahnke. They shared a vision of crafting small batch artisanal wines, in the painstaking old world traditions of Barossa Valley's early settlers. Murray Street's vineyard and wineworks are fortuitously positioned on a tapestry of beautiful rolling landscape near the ancient winemaking village of Greenock at the western end of Barossa. Working together with a small but dedicated team of vignerons and friends, the folks on Murray Street produce small amounts of the most intensely flavoured Shiraz.

The Murray Street property lies on slightly undulating ground, all trellised vines run in an east/ west direction. Minimal intervention techniques in the vineyard preserve the natural balance of indigenous bio organisms, all clippings are mulched and a permanent mid row sward of native grasses is encouraged. The Murray Street winemaking team has grown to include some of the region's most talented and dynamic personalities as they continue to strive for the extraordinary. Individual vineyard parcels of Shiraz are separately vinified in small batch ferments. The finished wine is matured eighteen months in a selection of seasoned and new, French and American oak hogsheads. Alcohol 15.0%

Rich dark colour indicates intensity. Bold and succulent bouquet of brambles and plum, mocha, mulberry and mace. Lively palate of black berry fruits and plum tantalise while being well supported by chocolate and coffee nuances. An elegantly structured, thoughtful wine with generosity of flavour and palate richness, weight of fruit and extended length.
Parker Estate First Growth
Barossa
Available in cases of 6
Outstanding Langton's Classification. John Parker's long and distinguished career in the industry fuelled a desire to produce a great Australian wine from within the nation's preeminent red wine region, culminating in the release of Terra Rossa First Growth, mostly the Reynella clone of Cabernet Sauvignon with a tenth of Merlot.

Parker Estate was built from the ground up in the right way, with the intention of producing precisely this style of wine. Established in 1985 by an old industry salt, quality winemaking was the only priority and commercial constraints played no part in the development. Integral to the style and structure of First Growth is the seven day warm fermentation and four to six weeks of maceration on skins. Individual parcels are then matured eighteen months in a selection of mostly new, Seguin Moreau Chateau and Taransaud Chateau, 228 litres French oak barriques. The final assemblage is returned to oak before egg fining and bottling.

Mid to deep red purple hue. Highly complex nose, showing dark berry fruit and forest floor characters, tobacco and spice notes within a lifted smoky French oak frame. Intense palate with rich ripe black fruit, liquorice notes and firm structured savoury tannins. Medium bodied but with very intense fruit and good perfume, a magnificently proportioned Cabernet Merlot accord.
Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre
Barossa
Available by the dozen
The Barossa Valley was planted extensively to Grenache, Mourvedre and Shiraz by early settlers. In the 1950s Penfolds started experimenting with the blend, trials which culminated in the release of Bin 138s forebears. An answer to the growing call for the highly perfumed and fleshy Rhone style of red, Bin 138 is sourced from old, low yielding Barossa Valley sites, much of the fruit from independent growers. This is a very special Penfolds red wine indeed, one of the few that remains in component form whilst maturing in small, well seasoned oak barrels.

Bin 138 is a full bodied style with the emphasis on musky plum aromas and succulent sweet fruit. Vintage and the quality of fruit determine the final wine, hence varietal proportions vary accordingly. Normally half is Grenache wine with a balance of Mourvedre and Shiraz, picked from elder vineyards which yield small amounts of intensely flavoured fruit. Sumptuous, seamless and substantial yet charmingly unpretentious, the final wine makes it hard to separate the cepage into it's varietal components, a complex entrapment and entanglement of Barossa fruits, soil and sun. Bin 138 is assembled after several rackings and a year's maturation in a selection of prior use American oak hogsheads.

Dense magenta colour. Aromatic leap from the glass, savoury and Rhônish, cold meats and pan jus, cinnamon, raspberry and red liquorice, dark red berried fruits and jelly bean. Medium to full bodied, substantial structual verging on lush, viscous youth. A suggestion of kirsch and maraschino, fruitcake mix. White chocolate and mocha flavours over powdery, soft rounded tannins.
Penfolds RWT Shiraz
Barossa
Available in cases of 6
Outstanding Langtons Classification. The Red Winemaking Trial presents an alternative to the multi-regional, American oak style of Shiraz which are the hallmarks of Grange, expressing instead, a pure Barossa wine aged exclusively in French barriques. RWT is vinified from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and fine texture rather than sheer intensity or power of flavour. In contrast to the muscular and assertive Grange, it's style is opulent and fleshy, a wine which redefines Barossa Shiraz at the very highest level.

Red Wine Trial is no longer on probation and will complete the conversion of many. A resplendent accord of pure Barossa Shiraz, French oak and the eminent Penfold style. Parcels of fruit, sourced from mature, twenty to hundred year old vineyards in the northern precincts of Barossa Valley, where the higher clay contents retain moisture and slowly release it to the vines, achieve a remarkable quality of Shiraz with darker, richer fruit profile. Grapes are small, thick skinned and intense, with balanced acidity and even tannin ripeness. An elegant, physiologically ripe Barossa Shiraz of outstanding quality and depth, matured sixteen months in an extremely high proportion of new French oak hogsheads.

Black core, magenta rim. Broods upon opening, yet soon to reveal a living aromaticness, sweet, saturated festive pudding, quince paste with glacéed cherries, dark cocoa and Arabica bean, jammon and ground pistachio nut and licorice root, bruléed creaminess of oak. The rich, dark tannins of northern Barossa, impressions of dark roasted meats, oxtail, slow-cooked beef cheek and marrow, texture and viscosity. Dark chocolate nougat and nuts, soy and charcoal fill the gaps.

Vines planted to drier, cooler climes than the Barossa valley floor, offer much lower yields, translating into rich and powerful Cabernet wines of great intensity and structure. Peter Lehmann retain access to some of the oldest and very best Cabernet sites in the region. The choicest parcels are selected on the basis of juicy berry fruit flavours and fragrant minty violet characters. Upon completion, batches are pressed, clarified and filled to a selection of French and American oak hogsheads for a year's maturation.
