A profoundly structured, concentrated Rhône style GSM from hand tended vineyards, at the very heart of Barossa which date back to the 1800s. The old, deep rooted Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre vines accept their fate without blinking, perfectly timing their harvest to accompany the later ripening, lower alcohol Carignan and Cinsault, a small yet important part of the Miss Harry accord. Dean Hewitson has been very fortunate to be tutored by some of the best wine makers and wine scientists in the world. Hewitson made the savvy decision to create long term associations with a network of established growers, allowing him the luxury of selecting only the best fruit. Fruit is picked off blocks of hand pruned, unirrigated dryland vines, up to 140 years of age, a third of the harvest is included as whole bunches, cold soaked and vinified on skins for three weeks before completing ferments, malolactic and a year's maturation in a selection of well seasoned French oak barriques. Bright red with deep purple hue. Aroma of black, red and forest berries, pepper and spice, garrigue, dried lavender and herbs with layers of creamy complexity offered by the extended barrel maturation on lees. The palate is wonderfully full, showing ripe black berries, strawberry and plums, a concentrated core of fruit essence with a racy acidity that contributes incredible vivacity. The finish is long, continuous and fresh.

The Hewitson loves a challenge and rose to the moment with a delicious, forward drinking old vines Barossa Shiraz, dressed in the finest French oak. Most definitely full bodied, yet has great balance and poise with it's signature drinkability factor.

$2999each $359DOZEN EACH DOZEN From well situated vineyards on red soils over limestone, the classic Terra rossa, providing the fruit for Ned & Henrys. The sites are traditionally grown and low cropped, they produce the requisite flavours and tannins for this style of wine. After a course of traditional vinification, Ned and Henry are pressed into quality French oak barriques for the completion of primary ferments and a term of malolactic. The wine matures in these barrels for a year or more before racking. While the base wine has always been Shiraz, each year a small proportion of Mourvedre is included, which accentuates the palate and delivers the complexity which is Ned & Henry.

Deep red with a purple hues. Distinctively Barossa nose, black and red, ripe fruits and a dried herb spice influence of Mourvedre. Seamless class of perfectly ripe fruit and French oak is a stand out. The palate structure delivers fully, flavours of red fruits, dark cherry and dark earth characters are intense and concentrated yet soft and supple. The tannins are gentle yet persistent.

John Duval grew up amongst some splendid old vineyards and has an encyclopeadic knowledge of the finest Barossa sites. Grenache from a 150 year old Eden Valley ancestor parcel, assembled alongside a harvest from an ancient block in northern Barossa. A combination of whole bunches and stemmed grapes are treated to a traditional vinification in small open top fermenters, followed by transfer to seasoned French oak hogsheads for a year's maturation. Approachable in its youth, but with the sound structure and profound depth of palate to evolve magnificently.

John Duval is one of the great winemakers of the modern era, three times anointed Winemaker of Year at the prestigious London International. Annexus is crafted from a small parcel of very old vines Mataro, picked off a dry grown centenarian vineyard in the Light Pass precincts of Barossa Valley. A mix of stemmed grapes and whole bunches are vinified in a small open top, wooden vat fermenter, followed by a year's maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak hogsheads. An excruciatingly limited release, a mere 250 cases were made.

Sourced from old vineyards in Krondorf, Light Pass and Ebenezer, a component of Eden Valley Shiraz has been included to maintain the elegance and purity of style. John Duval's objective with Entity is to construct a wine that's completely true to the grand old vineyards of the Barossa. Subtle French oak was chosen to compliment the ripe dark fruits. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques are employed, allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but with ample structure and depth of fruit to insure profound potential for development.

$5099each $611DOZEN EACH DOZEN John Duval was appointed Chief Winemaker at Penfolds in 1986, overseeing one of the most dynamic periods of change in the Australian wine industry. Duval was born a winemaker, his family had operated a world famous sheep stud farm and quality vineyards south of Adelaide for many years, coincidentally supplying Shiraz grapes and vine cuttings to Penfolds, some formed the backbone of the mighty Grange Hermitage. Entity Shiraz is vinified under submerged cap in traditional open fermenters. Some batches complete their course in new oak. The finished wine is treated to fifteen months in a high selection of new 300 litres fine grain French oak hogsheads.

Deep ruby purple. Lifted expressive blackberry, plum and blueberry fruit with hints of cedar and cloves. Youthful structure with good texture and mouthful. An excellent concentration of pure Barossa fruit, black, lengthy and rich, balanced by attractive ripe tannins and bright acidity, all supported by high quality savoury French oak which adds structure and polish.
