The Eden Valley delineation of Barossa is renowned for producing Australia's finest Riesling, as the cooler climate and higher rainfall, provide ideal conditions for the Riesling grape. Grapes are sourced mainly from thirty year old vines grown to the Thorn Family property and two other superior Eden Valley blocks. Clean, fresh citrus characters feature prominently on the palate, all perfectly balanced with a natural acidity and linear minerality on the long, lingering finish.

The earlier long cool ripening period of Eden Valley provides outstanding growing conditions and is the raison d'être for some of Australia's most internationally renowned Riesling wines. Half of the fruit is whole bunch pressed to maximise elegance, the balance is crushed directly into fermenters, the juices immediately drained to minimise skin contact. After two days of cold settling, the exclusively free run juices are racked and three cultured yeasts added to initiate a strictly temperature controlled fermentation at 11ºC. After six weeks rest on lees, the finished wine is racked and assembled for bottling.

Pale gold with green tinges. Delicate bouquet of fresh lime, lemons and hints of floral blossom. The flavours of fresh limes and lemons flow into the palate, clean and crisp, acidity and minerality provide a fine, lingering finish. The Angas family share a long tradition of viticulture with the craggy chills on the elevated high country of Valley Eden. Colin Angas established Riesling vines to a gently sloping site in the 1960s. Two distinct sections, the top of slope is leaner and more exposed, making tightly structured wines of crisp, vibrant acidity. Vines further down are planted to vigorous red soils, yielding plumper bunches of fruit, redolent of fresh aromatics and citrus zing. Lime cordial, calico and talc, a dash of minerality, refreshing acidity and a lengthy, textured chalky dry finish.

Behind every great winemaker is a great winemaker's wife. Robert recounts how he finally gave in to Mrs Duval's pleas and created his first white wine. An artisan may spend decades refining his skills but a woman's intuition rules. Duval's Rhone styled cepage of Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier has been a runaway success. Duval's aim with Plexus MRV is to promote a vibrant expression of fruit aromas from the interaction of the three varieties, to build structure and texture on the palate, rather than the blend's familiar acid crispness.

A quarter of Roussanne is sourced from Kalimna and the balance of Viognier from Eden Valley. Gentle pressings of the fruit are combined with free run juices and cold settled. Vinification is initiated in fermenters, portions of Marsanne and Viognier complete their course in barrel where they remain until August. The remaining batches of Marsanne and Roussanne are aged on lees to enhance structure and infuse textures into the completed wine. A total of half the components are matured in a selection of mostly seasoned, fine grain French oak barrels for six months.

Attractive pale straw with lime hues. Fresh lifted aromas of stone fruit, honey suckle and citrus. Medium bodied with superb texture and mouthfeel. Flavours of mandarin and pear, fennel and Asian spice. Finishes on a note of citrus with minimal acidity. Drinking beautifully on release with the certainty of waxing wonderful complexity, toasted honey varietal characters as it continues to evolve.

A single vineyard Chenin Blanc, sourced entirely from mature vines on the Kalleske farm, wild fermented and partially barrel matured to achieve an articulately varietal yet engagingly complex wine. Florentine gets her name from Caroline Florentine Kalleske, the first daughter of Johann Georg Kalleske who migrated to Australia from Prussia in 1838. Florentine is a true hand crafted wine that's been grown, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske estate farm, near the hamlet of Greenock in northwest Barossa.

$2199each $263DOZEN EACH DOZEN Florentine is from a single block of Chenin Blanc on the Kalleske property, which was planted in 1988. The vines are low yielding, the soil is shallow sand with clay subsoil. Grapes are harvested throughout the cool of night and whole bunch pressed for a cold settling prior to racking. The juices are completely wild indigenous yeast vinified, half is treated to a mix of French and Hungarian oak hogsheads, the balance is sent to fermenters. A course of partial lees stirring is employed upon completion of ferments for added texture and complexity. The wine final wine is assembled and bottled after several months of barrel age. Florentine is 100% Australian Certified Organic.

Established 1972, with a view to being one of the nation's pre eminent Chardonnay specialists, Mountadam was founded by the great David Wynn, one of the most significant contributors to the Australian wine industry and an important part of the Mountadam story. Mountadam today enjoy extensive resources for the production of Chardonnay through varied clones, ages and aspects. In assembling the finished wine, a balance of the most intense fruit aromas and flavours is sought, capturing the exquisite characteristics of fine Chardonnay without the influence of oak.

Chardonnay is sourced from the Mountadam estate property near the historic Boehm Springs Reserve, a nesting ground for Wedge Tail Eagles, the Mountadam logo. Sitting at an altitude of over 400 metres above sea level the vines grow in quartz rich sandy loams formed from the underlying schist bedrock. Picking grapes throughout the cool of early morning followed by a gentle pressing and a long cool four weeks of fermentation with natural cultured yeast helps retain maximum grape flavours. Parcels are selected which can best display the intensity of Chardonnay within the context of a vibrantly unoaked wine.

A pale green colour. Aromas of tropical fruit, rich apricot and ripe nectarine, layered with the complexity associated from a traditional vinification. Intense lively aromas of ripe peach and melon carry through on the palate with distinctly fresh acidity typical of cool climate Chardonnay. A long finish with lingering fruit characters and racy acidity. To accompany chicken caesar or grilled fresh water fishes.
