The Kaesler family migrated from Silesia and setlled in the Barossa circa 1840s. They cleared the scrub and planted 96 acres of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and White Hermitage in 1891 WOMS is an exclusively estate grown effort, mostly Shiraz from vines established in 1961, with a third of Cabernet Sauvignon picked off blocks planted 1970 to 1985. Fruit is vinified in static fermenters and pumped over twice daily. WOMS was pressed then transferred to a selection of mostly new Burgundian oak barriques for completion of malolactic, racked and returned to barrel, regularly topped up and racked again after a year. Matured for a full term of eighteen months before bottling without fining or filtration.

Purple crimson colour. Blackberries, mulberry and canned cherries on the bouquet with hints of charry oak. Black cherries, vanilla, some saddle leather characters appear on the palate. WOMS offers layer upon layer of brooding, briary fruit confronted by stunning oak and thick blocks of chocolatey tannin. The fruit is actually quite solid but repressed by oak and tannin at the moment, fruit will prevail. An elegant, savoury wine.

Stylistically reminiscent of the Loire Valley's Cabernet d'Anjou, fashioned to be refreshingly tannic yet forward drinking, medium bodied and quenching. It is said that great wine starts in the vineyard. Through a close liaison with some of the Barossa's most distinguished winegrowing families, Langmeil's team assess how the growing season has affected fruit, to collate parcels of the highest order. By keeping components separate throughout the winemaking, consistency and quality can be ensured at every vintage. To maximise the good Barossa fruit, Langmeil harnesses the synergy of new and old world vinification techniques, capturing the essence of a fine Rosé in contemporary Aussie styling. Alcohol 12.0%

Generous with refreshing, sweet red fruits which mingle with bright, zesty acidity, flowing through to a lingering, crisp Granny Smith apple finish. Parker Estate was built from the ground up in the right way, with the intention of producing precisely this style of wine. Established in 1985 by an old industry salt, quality winemaking was the only priority and commercial constraints played no part in the development. Integral to the style and structure of First Growth is the seven day warm fermentation and four to six weeks of maceration on skins. Individual parcels are then matured eighteen months in a selection of mostly new, Seguin Moreau Chateau and Taransaud Chateau, 228 litres French oak barriques. The final assemblage is returned to oak before egg fining and bottling.

Mid to deep red purple hue. Highly complex nose, showing dark berry fruit and forest floor characters, tobacco and spice notes within a lifted smoky French oak frame. Intense palate with rich ripe black fruit, liquorice notes and firm structured savoury tannins. Medium bodied but with very intense fruit and good perfume, a magnificently proportioned Cabernet Merlot accord.

The elevated northern districts of Barossa Valley make a perfumed and delicate style of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vines planted to drier, cooler climes than the Barossa valley floor, offer much lower yields, translating into rich and powerful Cabernet wines of great intensity and structure. Peter Lehmann retain access to some of the oldest and very best Cabernet sites in the region. The choicest parcels are selected on the basis of juicy berry fruit flavours and fragrant minty violet characters. Fruit is crushed into fermenters for a term of cold soak followed by a week of vinification. Upon completion, batches are pressed, clarified and filled to a selection of French and American oak hogsheads for a year's maturation.

Deeply coloured garnet red. Initial black cherry notes precede a redolent bouquet of currants and mint, violets and cassis. A richly endowed, solidly structured palate, offering great length of flavour, blackberries and cocoa, inky fruits and Barossa chocolate fruit characters, before a soft, fined grained tannin finish. Drinking beautifully, a superb accompaniment to beef, wild game or ripe, pungent cheese.
