McGuigan invite you to savour the inimitable experience which is Hunter Valley Chardonnay. Grapes were harvested from estate owned and operated vineyards and treated to a gentle air bag press. Juices were partially clarified before fermentation in French oak barriques wich infuse a lovely buttery oak influence to the final wine.

$2699each $323DOZEN EACH DOZEN The superlative Mount Pleasant vineyard was established in 1921 by the legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea who recognised the special characteristics and longevity of Hunter Valley table wines. The grapes are picked early in the morning to retain fruit freshness and quality. Bunches are gently destemmed and lightly crushed, the must is chilled and juices drained off, handled in a manner to eliminate oxidation. Juices are cold fermented over the course of a fortnight before being treated to a minimal lees contact. Assembled and filtered, stabilised and promptly bottled, interference with the natural vinification process is kept to a minimum, contributing to the retention of fresh fruit characters.

Pale straw hue. Elizabeth exhibits qualities of the finest Semillon when young, aromas of citrus are met by hints of vanilla and freshly cut hay. A palate of citrus, fresh lemon and limes, the back palate reveals the beginnings of distinctive Hunter Semillon characters, toastyness and nut, caramel and lanolin. The texture is light, bright and pure with a fresh line of acidity along the palate, leading to a fresh, dry and seamless finish.

Hunter Valley Semillon is one of Australia's great contributions to the world of wine. The grapes at harvest are characterised by an ideal pH and perfect acidity. The completed wines exhibit handsome colour and a bright bouquet before a superb palate with excellent depth and great length of flavour. Mount Pleasant's continued efforts to hold back bottles of Elizabeth Semillon until at the peak of development is repeatedly vindicated by the wine's incredible run of successes at major wine shows. Elizabeth has claimed dozens of trophies and countless medals throughout her long and illustrious history. All grapes are hand picked, de-stemmed and crushed, the musts are chilled and juices drained. After forty eight hours settling, the clear juices are racked off, warmed and inoculated. A long, cool vinification is employed to retain the character of vintage, bottled three weeks after completion.

Lovely deep straw hue. Effusive and intense, the complex aroma carries all the attributes of Hunter Semillon, lemon with lime, passionfruit, sherbet and hints of cut straw. Elizabeth has grown rich and mature Semillon characters after several years of bottle age. Fine, delicate and persistent exhibiting ripe acidity and a juicy, fleshy middle palate. Quintessential Semillon attributes of honeysuckle and lemon curd tantalize the taste buds.

Indentifiably Hunter Valley Shiraz from a number of well sheltered, higher altitude paddocks under the lee of Brokenback ranges. Fruit is destemmed into traditional open top fermenters for a fortnight's vinification, pressed into a mix of seasoned and new larger format French oak barrels and aged for fifteen months. A subtley structured style of elegant dark licorice fruit characters, seasoned by cinnamon and varietal black pepper, its silky mouthfeel, balance and length are supported by soft velvety tannins and framed by a delicacy of gentle nutmeg, carob oak.

Leontine O'Shea was intrumental in the establishment of Mount Pleasant wines, she sent her son Maurice to France for an education in viticulture right at the outbreak of World War I, acquiring his first Hunter Valley vineyard in 1921. Hand picked bunches of clone I10V5 Chardonnay are pressed into a selection of seasoned and new French oak puncheons for a wild, indigenous yeast ferment and nine months maturation. An intensely articulate Chardonnay of melon and peach, ripe fig and bakers brioche opulence, a lingering palate of persistence and flavour.

$7099each $851DOZEN EACH DOZEN Semillon for this amazing wine is sourced entirely from the Lovedale Vineyard, originally planted by legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea in 1946. Fruit is harvested relatively early for a wine with relatively low alcohol and naturally high acidities. All grapes are hand picked and sent to the Mt Pleasant wineworks where they are destemmed and crushed, the musts are chilled and the juices are drained. After forty eight hours settling, the clear juices are racked off, warmed and inoculated with neutral yeast. Ferments are slow and kept at cool temperatures to retain flavour. Lovedale is bottled just three weeks after vinification and held back for several years of bottle ageing under the Mt Pleasant cellars. Alcohol 10.0%

Maurice O'Shea Shiraz is made from vines over a hundred and twenty years of age, planted by the estate's original proprietor, Charles King. A smaller portion is sourced from eighty years old rootstock on the adjoining Old Paddock Vineyard, planted by legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea, who recognised the special characteristics and longevity of Hunter Valley wines. One of the nation's great wines, Maurice O'Shea once outscored Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace to be the highest rating Shiraz in the Halliday Wine Companion.

$23599each $2831DOZEN EACH DOZEN Hand picked grapes are crushed and cold soaked over twenty four hours to extract maximum colour and flavour. The juices are inoculated with a neutral yeast to initiate vinification, which takes place in open fermentation tanks. Half way through fermentation the cap was headed down to achieve maximum extraction. The wine was then pressed to finish primary and malolactic fermentation in barrel. Once complete, Maurice O'Shea is aged in a selection of the finest quality, exclusively French oak barriques for up to eighteen months. During maturation the wine is racked and returned twice to build complexity in the middle palate, mellow the tannins and allow the sweet berry fruit to emerge.

A medium intensity red with bright crimson hues. Generous primary fruit aromas of plums, raisin and raspberries with complex nuances of paprika, pepper and smoky chocolate oak. A medium weight palate dominated by a melange of ripe red raspberry and plums. Maurice O'Shea is dense with sweet fruits and ripe fruit tannin, generous, fine grained vanillin oak and hints of spicy paprika, forming layers of complexity.
