To this day, Scarpantoni is very much a family business with every step of production, from viticulture to the packaged product done entirely on the premises. The last two decades have seen major expansions to the Scarpantoni Estate, the quality of the wines, whilst excellent in earlier vintages, has reached new highs. There have been renewed plantings of premium Shiraz, a wetlands development, a fully renovated winery and cellar door, and the restoration of the estate's historical homestead. The Scarpantoni family maintain complete control over every stage of the winemaking process, to ensure vintages of the highest standard.

$19999each $2399DOZEN EACH DOZEN In 1846 William Jacob accompanied Colonel William Light on the Seven Special Surveys expedition to open up Adelaide's north. Jacob and his brother John claimed the rich alluvial junction of Jacob's Creek and the North Para River for future farming opportunities, which they established shortly after. Moorooroo has been produced from the remaining four rows of original Shiraz plantings, saved from the vine pull of the mid 1980s by Ed Schild. Grapes are crushed and open fermented until dry. Moorooroo is matured twenty four months in a mix of new and prior use French oak hogsheads, followed by a minimal filtration and bottle ageing under the Schild cellars for a further two years.

Dark purple colour, almost black. Brooding bouquet of dark berry fruits, mocha and chocolate notes. An opulently rich style, showing cherries and subtle oak, vibrant floral fruit flavours evolve, a lovely palate borne perfume. Serafino Maglieri came to McLaren Vale in 1968 and devoted his life to wine. From picking to pruning to cellarhand, he worked his way up to plant his own vines and build his first winery. He was twice crowned McLaren Vale Bushing King and claimed Trophy for Best Shiraz at the 1997 Great Australian Wine Challenge. He gained international renown after winning Trophy for Best Shiraz and Red Wine of the Year at the prestigious London International.

$10299each $1235DOZEN EACH DOZEN Terremoto vineyard is planted north west to red loam over limestone, just on the western side of McLaren Vale township. Vines are trained to a single cordon with a foliage wire controlling the canopy so light can penetrate to evenly ripen the fruit. Hand picked parcels of Terremoto vineyard Syrah are destemmed, leaving a high proportion of whole berries in the must, cold soaked for two days and inoculated with dried yeast culture. Batches are vinified in five tonnes open top fermenters for a week, pumped over twice daily, macerated on skins for a further ten days before pressing to a selection new and one year old oak French and American 300L oak hogsheads.

Black purple colour. Mulberries and chocolate bouquet, spices and satsuma plum, vibrant rich dark fruit intertwined with French and American oak characters of chocolate and spice harmonise with fine subtle tannins. The generosity of fruit character and the seamless integration of oak and tannin ensures the finish is fine, elegant and long.
