A limited release estate flagship, hand crafted by the Jim Barry family from parcels grown to one of the most superlative Cabernet vineyards in the land. Benbournie runs off Horrocks Highway and McCrae Wood Road, not far from the sacred soils of Armagh in Valley Clare. Originally settled 1853, it is now the site of a superior copse of vine, dry farmed and painstakingly managed by hand, vinified to old fashioned practices which have remained unchanged for decades, the meagre harvests yield an unforgettable experience in Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Deep crimson red. Intensely aromatic with a mix of dark vine fruits and chocolate, fresh garden herbs, cedary oak and earth. The palate is flooded with generous dark berry flavours, savoury soil notes, cedar and clove. Very fine, mineralic tannin lends length and style to a wine of exceptional presence and persistence.

Jim Barry seized the opportunity to acquire the heritage Penola cricket ground in 1950. The original pavilion was retained and vines were established around the cricket pitch. It endures as the spiritual home of the most memorable Coonawarra vintages. First XI honours the legends of Australian cricket, only ever produced in exceptional years, 2013 is one of a very few editions since inaugural release. So when you sniff and swirl a glass of The First XI, consider those elite sportsmen who have achieved the distinction of representing Australia at the highest level.

Tiny Coonwarrra is the source of Cabernet wines which are now generally recognised as being amongst the greatest in the world. The hidden geological treasure of porous limestone under the rich terra rossa soil creates the ideal cellar by storing water for later use. By virtue of these gifts from the earth, winemakers can place a distinctive signature on their Cabernet wine. The efforts of the Barry family have paid dividends, their Coonawarra property yields a wine of rare virtue. Small batch winemaking techniques are employed to create an icon Cabernet Sauvignon, full bodied and concentrated with profound structure. Extended maturation in a high selection of new French and American oak barriques.
 
Deep crimson ruby colour. Aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, cedar and cigar box, rosemary and sage. An abundance of red and purple fruits on the palate, blueberries, mulberry, cinnamon and clove. Fine grained, gravelly tannins, balanced with natural acidity, a lingering liquorice, cherry filled finish. A profound experience alongside succulent lamb recipes or Wagyu beef.
Jim Barry McCrae Wood Shiraz

Jim Barry purchased seventy acres of prime river flats in 1964, from Duncan McRae Wood in the Armagh area of Clare Valley and planted his first vineyard with Shiraz. It was an inspired choice of variety and location. The site would go on to become the foundation of Jim Barry's red wine production and to yield a spectacular quality of Shiraz which is earmarked for the internationally renowned The Armagh. McCrae Wood is a big, full bodied wine with extravagant palate in true Jim Barry styling, layered with deep tannins and ripe, concentration of flavours.

With its beautiful rolling hills, ideal winter rainfall and Mediterranean climate, Clare Valley grows some of Australia's most distinctive Shairaz. The region is blessed by aquifers that refresh the vines, and welcome falls of rain keep the fruit looking healthy. The idyllic climes surrounding the McCrae Wood property mean that even in drought years the vines can offer amazing resilience. To this day the site enjoys near perfect growing conditions and produces outstanding Shiraz grapes which are often destined for inclusion into some of the world's great wines. The finished McCrae Wood Shiraz is teated to an extended maturation in a selection of seasoned and new French and American oak barrels.
 
Colours of crimson and inky, ruby red. The nose displays intense aromas of black fruit, raspberry, blackcurrant and plum, supported by tar and asphalt, liquorice, oregano and lavender. The palate is unreserved in its flamboyance. Initial arrival of blueberries, tobacco, nutmeg and cranberry. The departure shows coriander, sage, vanilla pods and cinnamon, the finish shows excellent length. A generous red wine to accompany pasta and meats.
Jim Barry PB Shiraz Cabernet

Peter Barry's personal best in a private bottling. Only ever intended as a bespoke indulgence for family and friends, PB represents the pick of Clare Valley Cabernet and Shiraz, as fashioned by Peter Barry into the penultimate rendering of the enduring Aussie Claret. Vinified in traditional open top, two tonne fermenters, treated to heading down boards, rack return and pumpovers, before being pressed off to an extravagant selection of mostly new French and American oak barriques for malolactic and extended maturation.

Deep red colour, ruby hues. Intense dark fruit aromatics of blackberry and blackcurrant are complimented by richer notes of dark mint chocolates and roasting herbs. The palate is vibrant, laden with blackberry flavours, sage and rosemary herb. Firm, fine tannins frame a long, persistent finish of bright berry fruits over a length of savoury, toasted oak.
John Duval Annexus Grenache

John Duval grew up amongst some splendid old vineyards and has an encyclopeadic knowledge of the finest Barossa sites. Grenache from a 150 year old Eden Valley ancestor parcel, assembled alongside a harvest from an ancient block in northern Barossa. A combination of whole bunches and stemmed grapes are treated to a traditional vinification in small open top fermenters, followed by transfer to seasoned French oak hogsheads for a year's maturation. Approachable in its youth, but with the sound structure and profound depth of palate to evolve magnificently.

John Duval is one of the great winemakers of the modern era, three times anointed Winemaker of Year at the prestigious London International. Annexus is crafted from a small parcel of very old vines Mataro, picked off a dry grown centenarian vineyard in the Light Pass precincts of Barossa Valley. A mix of stemmed grapes and whole bunches are vinified in a small open top, wooden vat fermenter, followed by a year's maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak hogsheads. An excruciatingly limited release, a mere 250 cases were made.

John Duval is one of the world's best known winemakers, heir to a distinguished family tradition of Shiraz growing which spans four generations. As a child he grew up amongst the vines and handled fruit that was earmarked for the great Penfold flagships, he worked alonside Max Schubert and spent sixteen years as Penfolds chief. Eligo is crafted to be a transcendent expression of Shiraz. A wine of restrained power, rich in texture and palate length, Eligo represents the best of vintage, sourced from excellent old vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys.

Since leaving Penfolds, Duval has consulted to a number of wineries in Australia, Europe and the Americas. He is a partner in the eminent Washington Long Shadows label and continues to apply four decades of winemaking skill to some of the best fruit in the world. Eligo is sourced from hand picked Shiraz vineyards in the Barossa and Eden Valleys, it represents the best of vintage. Parcels are inoculated in small fermenters, the caps are closely managed and kept submerged. Some batches are kept up to a fortnight on skins, others complete their ferments in completely new oak. The completed Eligo is matured twenty months in a selection of mostly new, fine grain 300 litres French oak hogsheads.

Sourced from old vineyards in Krondorf, Light Pass and Ebenezer, a component of Eden Valley Shiraz has been included to maintain the elegance and purity of style. John Duval's objective with Entity is to construct a wine that's completely true to the grand old vineyards of the Barossa. Subtle French oak was chosen to compliment the ripe dark fruits. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques are employed, allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but with ample structure and depth of fruit to insure profound potential for development.

John Duval was appointed Chief Winemaker at Penfolds in 1986, overseeing one of the most dynamic periods of change in the Australian wine industry. Duval was born a winemaker, his family had operated a world famous sheep stud farm and quality vineyards south of Adelaide for many years, coincidentally supplying Shiraz grapes and vine cuttings to Penfolds, some formed the backbone of the mighty Grange Hermitage. Entity Shiraz is vinified under submerged cap in traditional open fermenters. Some batches complete their course in new oak. The finished wine is treated to fifteen months in a high selection of new 300 litres fine grain French oak hogsheads.
 
Deep ruby purple. Lifted expressive blackberry, plum and blueberry fruit with hints of cedar and cloves. Youthful structure with good texture and mouthful. An excellent concentration of pure Barossa fruit, black, lengthy and rich, balanced by attractive ripe tannins and bright acidity, all supported by high quality savoury French oak which adds structure and polish.

Juniper Estate was established 1973 within a picturesque setting near Wilyabrup Creek along Harmans Road. The fully mature vines are grown to auspiciously gravel loam soils which have been essential to the production of Margaret River's stellar Cabernet wines. The propitious terroir and balmy maritime climes are heaven sent for the signet Bordeaux varietals. Juniper's viticultural team assemble parcels of Cabernet and Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, to fashion an elegantly aromatic and soundly structured wine, in engaging, new world Medoc styling.

An exclusive, dry grown, single vineyard wine from a mix of grapes which articulate the uniqueness of a resplendent site. The rich cepage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is hand picked in small batches off vines trellised to vertical shoot positioning. Fruit is de-stemmed and chilled into open fermenters for a natural and inoculated vinification, cold soaked for several days and treated to a regimen of plunging and pumpovers once or twice daily for optimal extraction of colour and tannins. The ferments spend up to thirty days on skins before transfer to a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels for completion of malolactic and eighteen months maturation.
 
Dense red in colour. Concentrated and powerful nose with an abundance of dark fruit, cherries and plum, blueberries and cassis backed by complimenting cedary spiced vanillin oak. The palate is seamless and silky smooth, a Cabernet of controlled concentration, rich ripe fruit characters over a length of fine grain tannins, before a long, long finely textured finish.
