From vines planted to sandy loam soils at Langhorne Creek yielding two tons/acre, with a smaller component of fruit grown to grey marl over deep limestone soils. Fruit is crushed into ten tonnes open top fermenters and left on skins to cold macerate for three days prior to inoculation by a Rhône isolate yeast. Maximum ferment temperatures of 26C encourage tannin extraction while maintaining freshness of aromatics. The wine is pressed to barrel for completion of malolactic then racked and returned into a mix of two to four year old French and American oaks for a year. The finished wine exhibits fantastic colour with fleshy, rounded tannins and impressive structure.

Vibrant ruby in colour. Wonderfully fragrant with a lifted nose of black cherries, mulberry and plums, complemented by spicy oak characters of tobacco and vanilla. The palate displays plummy, blackcurrant jam notes with a hint of mocha. A rich, textural wine, savoury, fine grain tannins and fresh acidity. Match Heartland with a tomato and red wine osso bucco or a grill of rosemary venison saucisson.

Bros Sam and Tom grew up amongst the vines of Valley Clare and ageing barrels of Shiraz Cabernet under the Jim Barry cellars. After a tour of study and travel, they came of age and returned to the family wineworks. It has been a rite of passage at Jim Barry that each new generation create a label of their own, one that reflects the times and contemporary tastes. They took a modern approach to the classic Australian blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, an approachable drink for red wine enthusiasts who don’t want to sniff and swish but prefer to share a good drop. A nod to the family heritage, the 1950s branding harks back to the era when grandparents Jim and Nancy established their first vineyards.

Juicy plum and raspberry fruit are tightly woven with notes of espresso, dark cocoa, liquorice and cassis. The palate is built on chocolatey tannins, providing a well rounded, lingering finish.

They cleared the scrub and planted 96 acres of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and White Hermitage in 1891 WOMS is an exclusively estate grown effort, mostly Shiraz from vines established in 1961, with a third of Cabernet Sauvignon picked off blocks planted 1970 to 1985. Matured for a full term of eighteen months before bottling without fining or filtration.

The Follett family vineyard was established in the 1880s by Arthur John Follett, great, great grandfather of today's winemaker. The site is surrounded by majestic river red gums which infuse the grapes with eucalypt characters. Lake Breeze selects only the best 25% of fruit from the older vines for its estate releases, a limited crush of only two hundred tonne. The old vines, which are dry grown, rely on winter flooding of the Bremer River, to carry the vines through the dry summer months, as Langhorne Creek receives very little rain. Bernoota is vinified on skins in open static fermenters for a week, followed by twenty months maturation in a combination of American and French oak barriques.

Deep scarlet colour. Bernoota shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plum with a hint of spice, cigarbox and smoke. It's lifted aromas carry a heady whiff of exotic spice, leading on to a juicy palate underpinned by smooth, smoky vanilla/ coconut oak and firm, pliant tannins. This is an impressive wine with persistent dark berry characters and genial acids, seamlessly adjoined into a full bodied, complex wine of great poise and solid structure.
