Situated along Coldstore Road at 550 metres above sea level, just fifty kilometres from the ancient Mount Edelstone and Hill of Grace vineyards, the sloping aspects offer not only beautiful views towards the older vine country but also higher rainfall and humidity at the right time of the year, cooler temperatures to retain natural acidity, and still enough sunshine to fully ripen the grapes. The Abbotts Prayer label links together the history, winemaking traditions and local folklore of this mountainous region. Matured eighteen months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads prior to assemblage.

Vivid deep crimson in colour. A sweet, spicy, complex nose of blueberries, mulberries, blood plums, cardamom and thyme with underlying hints of toasty French oak. The palate is beautifully svelte and complex with layers of flavour and fine-grained, silky tannins. Very textural, elegant and long.

The long and cool, dry growing seasons that prevail in the cigar shaped Coonawarra provide the ideal conditions for grapes to accumulate intense flavours and fine tannins. Following the harvest, bunches are minimally handled to retain the intense fruit flavours of the vineyard. Partial barrel fermentation, followed by eighteen months maturation in a combination of French and American oak barrels, infuses elegance, structure and a long finish to the stately palate.

Bright ruby red with purple hues. Varietal Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant and mulberry are complimented by the softer Merlot notes of violet, dark chocolates and plum. A seamless and complex Coonawarra, showing blackberry and cassis, choc mint and plums woven with finely integrated oak. The finish is long with a soft texture and silky tannin structure. Even within the single vineyard, particular blocks of vine, more than thirty five years of age, known as patches 12 and 13, are set aside exclusively for Jack Mann. Grapes are hand harvested, hand sorted, crushed and vinified in small open top fermenters. Caps are plunged by hand before gently pressing the wine into new and one year old French oak barrels from choice Bordeaux cooperages for eighteen months maturation, before assemblage, fining and bottling without filtration. Only a few hundred cases are ever made.

Dense, deep purple red, scarlet hue. Intense aromatics of blackberry, cassis and dark berry fruits, black olive and hints of mint with dark chocolate and fine cedary French oak. A rich cepage of the requisite Bordeaux varietals which have found a new home amongst the silty, alluvial clays and sands between Bibbona and Bolgheri in Tuscany's west. The wine industry press have been unanimous in their enthusiasm for Pino di Biserno, which improves remarkably with each new vintage.

$11999each $1439DOZEN EACH DOZEN Grapes yielding a mere 1½ bottles are selectively hand picked off vines grown to very special soils, complex silts, alluvial sands, a high percentage of clay and a conglomerate rich in minerals, unique influences of terroir which are recognizable in the finished wines, all very similar to those found in Bordeaux. Berries are further sorted upon arrival to the Biserno wineworks, de-stemmed, gently crushed and vinified for three to four weeks at 28C before being treated to full malolactic in a combination of barrels and fermenters. Matured twelve months in a selection of French oak barriques and vats, before the final assemblage, bottling and a further six months ageing under the Biserno cellars before release. Alcohol 14.5%

Single Vineyard accord of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, from a closely coddled block at Lodge Hill on the eastern ranges of Valley Clare. The Cabernet may dominate but there's a sacred tradition of Malbec at play here, Jim Barry the man, often called on Malbec as an essential inclusion to his most memorable vintages. A mostly Cabernet Sauvignon wine, a substantial component of Merlot with inclusions of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, fashioned to a brightly lit, fruit driven style with sound structure and moderate oak influence. Merlot provides a fleshy mid palate while the Cabernet delivers depth, integrity and length. A bliss alongside succulent, melt in the mouth braises and oven roast root vegetables.

$1799each $215DOZEN EACH DOZEN The Wilyabrup region's Forest Grove duplex over clay soils are ideal for producing the statuesque style of Cabernet Merlot wine. These soils contain a significant gravel component which aids drainage and reflects heat back onto the vines in the evening. The sandy loam component retains water, while the high gravel content tends to promote low vigor. Regimens of leaf plucking and trimming are employed throughout the growing season to achieve good fruit exposure. Harvests of Merlot and Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc are plunged and pumped over the course of two or three weeks fermentation, followed by fourteen months in a combination of seasoned and new French oak barrels.

The palate is smooth and plush with a good depth of fleshy fruit characters and modest oak influence. Juniper Estate was established 1973 within a picturesque setting near Wilyabrup Creek along Harmans Road. The fully mature vines are grown to auspiciously gravel loam soils which have been essential to the production of Margaret River's stellar Cabernet wines. The propitious terroir and balmy maritime climes are heaven sent for the signet Bordeaux varietals. Juniper's viticultural team assemble parcels of Cabernet and Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, to fashion an elegantly aromatic and soundly structured wine, in engaging, new world Medoc styling.

The rich cepage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is hand picked in small batches off vines trellised to vertical shoot positioning. Fruit is de-stemmed and chilled into open fermenters for a natural and inoculated vinification, cold soaked for several days and treated to a regimen of plunging and pumpovers once or twice daily for optimal extraction of colour and tannins. The ferments spend up to thirty days on skins before transfer to a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels for completion of malolactic and eighteen months maturation.

Dense red in colour. Concentrated and powerful nose with an abundance of dark fruit, cherries and plum, blueberries and cassis backed by complimenting cedary spiced vanillin oak. The palate is seamless and silky smooth, a Cabernet of controlled concentration, rich ripe fruit characters over a length of fine grain tannins, before a long, long finely textured finish.
