Dugat Py Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Blanc
Burgundy
Towards the southwest of Chassagne-Montrachet, alongside Route de Santenay, lies the Abbaye de Morgeot. Domaine Dugat-Py retain a very small part of the elite Climat at Morgeot but the quality of fruit is without peer. Managed to the same holistic viticultural techniques which would have been employed when the ancient Abby was built, the limestone clay soils yield one of the greatest white wines in the world, to be treated to an extended maturation in completely new French oak barrels from the cooperage of François Frères.

Eden Road Murrumbateman Riesling
Hilltops
Available by the dozen
Canberra may be the chilliest city on the mainland but it also yields vintages of remarkable, world class wines. Riesling vines love the chilly, crisp and cloudless Murrumbateman skies, stimulated to yield parcels of the most intensely flavoured, ripe and complex fruit. Grapes are all hand picked and whole bunch pressed, cold settled and racked off gross sediments for vinification and a term of repose on fine lees. Inscrutably clean, elegant and refined, a suggestion of tropicality, lychees and lime, supported by the luxury of mineral and chalky, winsome aplomb.

Egon Muller Scharzhof Riesling Qualitats
Saar
Available in cartons of six
Egon Muller draws fruit from the Saar's most superior sites, the original two hundred year old estate property at Scharzhof or the prestigious Le Gallais vineyard in Wiltingen. Muller owns a large portion of the stately Scharzhofberger property, the equivalent of a Cote d'Or Grand Cru, one of Europe's finest vineyards. So particular is Egon Muller about the quality of his Scharzhof Qualitätswein, that he may include parcels from Scharzhofberger, to be vinified around a backbone of fruit from Saarburg and Wawern, Wiltinger Braunfels and Wiltinger Kupp.

All Egon Muller's editions are Riesling, the family's experience with the varietal dates back to the discovery of Auslese itself. The style is made without any compromise from small parcels of the finest fruit, as harvests of suitably high quality become available. Grapes are hand picked off the ripest bunches, very late in the season from late November until early December. The wines are fermented to wild indigenous yeasts and matured in thousand litres oak foudres. The aim is to craft the finest example of traditionally hand made Auslese. The well seasoned barrels are kept in deep, very cold, damp cellars, originally constructed by mediaeval monks, which offer the perfect environment to gently age the wines.

Pale gold hue. White fruit aromas and floral bouquet, citrus, peaches and pear. A rich palate with bright citrus acid balancing the sweetness of fruit flavours. The wine displays stony minerality, hints of acacia and lilac, grilled exotic fruit, sweet stone fruits and bracing acidity all combined in perfect harmony.

Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Auslese
Saar
Scharzhofberger is one of the most famous sites in Germany and was probably planted by the Romans. It is extremely steep at a gradient of 30° to 60° and quite high in elevation. Every year, those parcels of Riesling which are worthy of the late picked Auslese style are hand selected by Egon Muller, to be vinified into one of the Rhineland's most cherished wines.

The soils at Scharzhofberg are very deep and without bedrock, originally formed by gray Devonian slate decomposition. The site is very well drained but still holds sufficient moisture, a characteristic shared by many of the finest European vineyards. The distinguished einzellagen comprises sixty seven acres, of which Egon Muller owns eighteen.
