The Kennedy Vineyard is planted to superior winegrowing aspects along the east facing slope of Mount Camel Range, atop Heathcote's internationally renowned Cambrian soils. Uniquely for a blush pink wine, Kennedy treat their fruit to an extravagant course of barrel ferments in a selection of well seasoned French oak. Perched atop the spectacular boulder strewn hills of the Great Dividing Range, the Granite Hills property lies to the northern extremity of the Macedon Ranges, along a route taken by Burke and Wills on their fateful journey. At 550 metres, it is one of the highest elevation vineyards in Australia. Established in 1970, a small block of Merlot thrives under the cool ripening climes. A backbone of limited yield, estate growm Merlot is vinified alongside choice parcels, hand selected from good vineyards at Heathcote.

It's the excellent drainage and low fertility attributes of the soils at Granite Hills that are so beneficial to the balance of the vine, keeping the yields low and quality of grapes high. This clean vineyard theme is reinforced by exposure to the prevailing winds, which tends to lower any humidity and disease pressures while naturally limiting yields. Hand pruning, meticulous vineyard management and selective hand picking is employed to ensure only the fully ripened grapes ever enter the winery. Matured in a selection of seasoned French and American oak barrels for a year.

Ruby purple colour. Warm toasty oak aromas are supported by ripe Merlot fruit, chocolates and cassis. The palate is full but soft, showing sweet spice and a supple tannin structure. A total coverage amounting to nine hectares of prime Mornington viticulture, are fastiduously husbanded to yield nothing but the most exceptional quality harvests. Vertically shoot positioned, estate grown fruit, forms the backbone, supplemented by choice parcels grown to mature local vines. Chardonnay is gently whole bunch pressed directly into French oak barriques for a wild, indigenous yeast vinification, followed by ten months maturation sur lie and minimal filtration before bottling.

Bright straw lime colour. A delicate, aromatic nose showing grapefruit and lime, hints of fresh ginger, soft layers of cream and quartz silica minerality. The palate is pure and fine with some flintiness. A Clonale that is pert and linear in youth but with the lees creaminess in place to build texture and weight as it evolves.

Faultline makes wines that are richer and fuller than Farrago, articulating greater textural characters and supported by the inherent minerality. Farrago Chardonnay is defined by its very linear character and strong minerality, the premier wine with the greatest potential. Fruit is whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented in a selection of new and seasoned French oak, without any added yeast, followed by a year's maturation Sur lie.

Vibrant pale straw with hints of gold. The nose shows lemon peel, grapefruit and wet stones. Palate has richness but is kept tight and focused by bright acidity running the entire length. Youthful and intensely flavoured, with bright citrus notes as well as sherbet, jelly crystals, mandarin and some oatmeal with hazelnut. Shows power, concentration and youth at the moment as it continues gain complexity.

Kooyong is a domaine in the true sense of the word, the exclusively estate grown grapes never leave the property until well after bottling. The wines of Kooyong aim to manifest terroir, an integration of geology and soil, the mesoclime of individual parcels and the influence of Mornington's maritime clime. A culture of holistic husbandry in the vineyard and artisanal diligence throughout the vinification serves to articulate the uniqueness of Kooyong Pinot Noir, respectfully and without artifice.

$5099each $611DOZEN EACH DOZEN A tally of clones are hand picked off fully mature vines, completely destemmed and vinified for up to three weeks in a mix of large oak foudres, cement vats and fermenters, the batches are left to self inoculate through wild and local yeasts. After completion of natural malolactic, components are filled to a selection of French oak barriques for nine months, followed by transfer to large oaken foudres for another ten months before assemblage.

Bright garnet, maroon colour. A generous, open nose of dark berries and a touch of vanilla bean. The flavour spectrum ranges from strawberries, raspberries, and boysenberries, through to cinnamon and clove, tapenade and coffee, balanced by abundant ripe, round tannins. A thickness and richness of texture, the varietal character remains pure.

Yellow straw hues. Bouquet of maritime Mornington breeze, seaweed and iodine, preserved lemon and a touch of stone fruit, notes of ginger, struck match and lees derived richness. The long, linear palate is tightly focused around pristine citrus and stone fruit characters, hints of oatmeal and cashew, a luxuriously intense saline acidity.

Planted exclusively to Pinot Noir, Kooyong Estate's Ferrous Vineyard lies atop sandstones which are encrusted with iron oxide, giving them a rusty appearance and inspiring the Ferrous moniker. Unique soils impart the intriguing characters of hot wet stone and rusty outback to the exquisitely compex nose. The scant 1.74 hectares of Ferrous Block yield an extremely limited release, single vineyard wine, arguably Mornington's flagship Pinot Noir.

$6299each $755DOZEN EACH DOZEN Ferrous Vineyard is less protected from the northerly winds, and the soil extremely unforgiving, resulting in greater stress being placed upon the vines. The vines here tend to run out of available water much sooner than in most parts of Mornington. The resulting wine is more masculine in nature, the tannins have more presence and the colour is richer. All grapes are picked by hand and destemmed alongside a portion of whole bunches, into large oak foudres for three weeks of ferment without any added yeasts. A course of wild malolactic in barrel is followed by seventeen months maturation in French oak, a third of which are new, to be bottled without any fining or filtration. Alcohol 13.5%

Dark blood maroon colour. Aromas of crushed ironstone, pink grapefruit, fresh beetroot, wild/ sour cherry and a forest floor. Foamy strawberry and strawberry shortcake, tart black cherries, sleek texture, creamy vanillin note and oak seamlessly integrated, a density of fruit flavours, an utterly pure, savoury line, pert acidity and assertive tannin propel the palate to length.

The wines of Kooyong aim to express their terroir, an integration of geology, soils and mesoclimates of the various sites within the vineyard and the weather of the growing season, to articulate the unique characteristics diligently, respectfully and without artifice. The most sheltered block of Pinot Noir is called Haven, its coddled vines yield grapes of enticing purple jube opulence, completely destemmed for wild indigenous yeast vinification and a year's maturation in French oak barriques, its velvet richness and lushness supported by firm underlying tannin structure.

Destemmed grapes and a component of whole bunches are indigenously vinified in open vats for up to three weeks without the introduction of any yeasts. Batches are treated to natural malolactic followed by a year's maturation in French oak barriques and larger format foudres, achieving a wine that's completely approachable in its youth.

A pretty purplish crimson colour. The nose speaks of bright red fruits, raspberries and cherry, then violet florals, dried meadow herbs and hints of cherry pip, oak and botanical spice. The palate is attractively brambly with a core of red fruits, fresh acidity, fine, graphite tannins and a savoury edge which balances the fruit. Massale is an elegant wine which will continue to evolve beautifully.
