The key selection criteria are all about soil, the best sites consist of lateritic gravels over a clay loam base. The flagship Isa vineyard, just south of Margaret River provides the backbone of fruit. It's signature perfume is ever present in the wine, year in and year out. All the individual vineyard parcels are vinified separately. Following fermentation on skins and completion of malolactic, Stella Bella is treated to a luxurious selection of French tonnellerie's barriques for extended maturation. The length of time ageing is important for the complete integration of oak, fruit and tannins in the final wine. Bottling occurs in May of the second year, followed by several more months of bottle age.

Vines are planted to sites at the southern end of Margaret River where climes serve to maximise the heady aromatics characteristic of Moscato. Grapes are ready for harvest when all the berry skins have turned a full and deep rosy brown colour. Grapes are cooled before crushing to the press and remain on their skins for up to a day to extract colour and flavour. After pressing, the juice is settled bright and fermented cold with an aromatic yeast strain. When the desired alcohol level is reached, the fermentation is arrested by rapid cooling in order to maintain natural grape sugars and the carbon dioxide gas evolved during the fermentation process. Bottling occurs in May, just in time for a spring release. Alcohol 7.5%

Having earned a reputation as one of Margaret River's most talented winemakers, Lane pulled together a young and enthusiastic team to establish Swings & Roundabouts. Drawing the highest quality Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from estate vineyards, the fruit is gently processed to achieve maximum flavour profiles and aromaticness. Early bottling is a key element to ensuring that the wine retains freshness and vivacity.
