As fifth generation of a great winemaking and grape growing dynasty that has been part of the Barossa since 1855, Grant Burge's commitment is absolute. Burge manages his vineyards to yield fruit of the most exacting standards. Chardonnay is sourced from the Barossa, Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills. Grapes are crushed and cold settled, juices are racked off solids and inoculated for a cool vinification in fermenters over the course of several weeks. A portion is treated to oak barrel ferments, another completes malolactic. All components are aged on yeast lees for complexity, mouthfeel and texture. Following settling and filtration, Benchmark is assembled into the consumate, fruit driven Chardonnay.
